  • Sensory Tools to Help Us Regulate!

    Funded Aug 27, 2023

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donation to my classroom! My students have already put each and every item to good use. Several of these items were things that I could never have afforded to purchase on my own and so your donation is even more impactful than I could have hoped for.

I was able to purchase multiple sensory regulation tools and train my students in their use. I now have multiple weighted lap pads, so that more than one child can use them at a time, and I can even add one to my cozy corner! The kids have had fun using the liquid tiles during free play time, as well as a tool to help regulate their bodies as needed.

The giant blocks have been a tremendous hit! They have built some really creative things that they couldn't have built with our small wooden blocks. Several creations have even spanned multiple days!

Thank you again for this generous opportunity to purchase items that I never could have purchased on my own. My class, and many classes to come, will benefit greatly from your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cook

  • Wiggle While You Work!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I can't begin to thank you enough for your generous donations which helped my students gain access to these amazing wobble stools! I began to implement flexible seating into my kindergarten classroom last year, a little bit at a time. I knew that so many other teachers had enjoyed great success with these stools, and I just knew my students would benefit as well! Allowing my young students choice in where they can do their best work, has proven to be amazingly successful in my room. Children are listening to their bodies and minds when they choose a work spot. These wobble stools have been fantastic for those children who need to move a little extra, but still have work to complete! However, all my students have enjoyed the chance to use these stools!

This gift has already impacted two different classes of students. I received the stools late in the 2017-2018 school year, and that group of children used them a ton in that short amount of time. They were SO excited when they came in and saw this new addition to our classroom! They were definitely a hot commodity from the start, and there was rarely a time when the stools were empty! In fact, in one of my pictures, you can see how during free play time, several students used the stools to create a bridge for their trains! Now, I have just started the 2018-2019 school year with a new group of children. These kindergartners have already taken an immediate liking to the wobble stools, and again, they are the seat of choice for so many children.

Flexible seating has proven to be an invaluable tool in my quest to create a more student-centered, developmentally appropriate learning environment. I can't wait to watch years of children to come enjoy these stools, which were so generously donated by you amazing supporters!

Thank you again for your generous donations!”

  • Lights... Camera... Learn!

    Funded Jan 5, 2011

I do not know how to begin to thank you for your generous donations. My children are enjoying having the Flip Camera very much!

My students have been working very hard this year, and they get so excited when they get the chance to show off their learning to others. Having the Flip Camera has allowed us to record various things we have done in our classroom. The children just love getting to see themselves on the 'big screen' when I play the videos back for them.

So far we have made a video about Martin Luther King Jr. and we are currently working on reader's theater scripts and plays that we will eventually make into movies!

This camera is a resource I never could have provided to my students on my own, so I am incredibly grateful for your generosity.”

  • Tag! You're Reading!

    Funded Sep 30, 2010

I do not know how to begin to thank you for your generous donations. My students are enjoying the Tag Readers very much! They have become a highly sought after resource during our literacy block.

The children love how interactive the books become and how each page has fun, yet educational, activities to go along with what they are reading! I love how engaged they are in what they are reading. I also love how they are able to select the level of support the book gives them. I can see the children reading the words right along with the Tag Reader!

We spend a significant portion of each day reading and many of my students are second language learners. These students benefit a great deal from the Tag Readers, because the books are modeling their new language to them in a fun way!

These are resources I never could have provided my students on my own, so I am sincerely thankful for your generosity.”

  • Help Us Organize Our Library!

    Funded Aug 11, 2010

I do not know how to begin to thank you for your generous donations towards my project! We have been using our book cart for a number of weeks now and we are just loving it!

We have used approximately half of the bins for our leveled library. The children are able to find books on their appropriate reading level much easier now that each level has its own clearly labeled bin! We also have used the cart to house our new math library! We love reading books about math concepts, and now we have a neat, organized place to keep these valuable resources. Our books will no longer get lost, bent or misplaced! Finally, we are using some of the bins for some educational technology equipment that we are using to become better readers!

Everything now has a special place, in a clearly marked bin. This has made it so much more efficient for my students to find exactly what they are looking for, and exactly what they need in order to learn and grow each day!

This is a resource I never could have provided to my class on my own, so I am incredibly grateful for your generosity in providing what could not.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cook

  • Help Us Become Super 1st Grade Readers!

    Funded Dec 31, 2009

I don't know how to begin to thank you for your generous donations. My children are utilizing the book sets and growing as readers every day!

My students love coming to school and are so excited about reading. The more books I can get into their hands the better! We spend a significant part of each day focusing on reading. I have tried to foster a true love of reading in my students, and one way we do this is to simply curl up with a great book (that we can read)!

Research has shown that the best way for children to grow as readers is to read lots of 'on-level' text. These sets of leveled books you have so generously donated to our class are doing just that! Every single child in my class has grown numerous reading levels this year and we couldn't do it without great books like these!

These are resources I never could have provided my students on my own, so I am forever thankful to your generous hearts for providing what I couldn't. ”

    Mrs. Cook

  • Comfy Reading Corner for 1st Graders Who LOVE to Read!

    Funded Nov 12, 2009

I don't know how to begin to thank you for your generous donations. My children are enjoying the reading pillows very much!

My students love coming to school and are so excited about reading. However, we did not have many comfortable places in our older classroom to curl up and read. Now with our comfy pillows, we can make cozy reading spots anywhere!

We spend a significant part of each day focusing on reading. I have tried to foster a true love of reading in my students, and one way we do this is to simply curl up with a great book and read! Simply having a pillow to lean on, rather than a cold tile floor, has greatly helped my students' desire to read more and more!

These are resources I never could have provided my students on my own, so I am forever thankful to your generous hearts for providing what I couldn't. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cook

I have been working to make my classroom as developmentally appropriate and child-centered as I possibly can! Kindergarten kids are expected to learn so much, and while they are ready to rise to the occasion, they are still excitable, wiggly, fun-loving 5 and 6 year-olds!
