  • Help Us Make Over Our Learning Environment!

    Funded Jan 7, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donation to enhance our classroom environment! My students were so excited when mysterious boxes started showing up with awesome new furniture and books for our classroom. As they slowly began to see the newest additions to our classroom, they were flooded with excitement and eagerly anticipated the day that they would get to test out the new furniture.

Our new balance ball chairs, futon, and table are popular places in the classroom and have greatly fostered collaboration among my students. Many of my reluctant readers love reading Choose Your Own Adventure books and have been devouring them as quickly as they can!

Thank you for investing in my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Webb

  • Stuff the Shelves of Our Class Library!

    Funded Aug 29, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom! My students were so excited when the big box of new books were delivered-they couldn't wait to get their hands on all of the new choices!

Thanks to you, I now have a greater selection of high-interest books for my reluctant readers and more series for my committed readers! I couldn't tell you the last time a student told me that they couldn't find a book to read!

My students are now enjoying their Read to Self time more than ever, and it's so exciting for me too see them recommending books to one another. Later this quarter, I hope to have them start writing their own book review to publish on our class blog. Given that I've noticed an improved vocabulary from quite a few students, I'm anxiously awaiting their riveting reviews!

My students and I truly cannot thank you enough. It was so amazing to be able to tell them that our new books were purchased by people who may not know them, but want to help advance their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Webb

  • This Is Not a Book

    Funded Nov 30, 2011

Thank you so much for helping us get these books! Since I handed them out last week, the kids have been in love with them. I no longer hear a chorus of, "I'm done, what can I do?" Instead, I hear, "I'm done, can I go get my copy of This Is Not a Book?"

The kids are always running up to me to show me something they've discovered or are announcing to the class, "Hey guys! Turn to page 46!" Yesterday, I looked up and found that two of my 6th graders (one boy and one girl) had magically sprouted mustaches that they had found on a page labeled "This is a disguise."

Many of these kids would have never been able to purchase a book like this--or even dream that a book like this exists! Thank you for providing them with a fun and creative outlet to fill those free moments-and for helping give them something that they are truly excited about!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Webb

  • Setting The Stage With Classroom Journalism

    Funded Feb 27, 2011

Thank you so much for your contributions toward our equipment! The students were so excited when it arrived!

Though our initial plan was to simply hook the microphone up to our video camera, we have discovered another use for it--we can use it to record audio on our Promethean Board! This opens up even more possibilities for our classroom; we can now record podcasts to post to our class website or audio to post on Glogster projects.

Since many of my students don't have things that we take for granted, I love being able to present them with opportunities that they might not normally have. Thank YOU for making that happen!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Webb

I have a class of 20 6th graders of varying socioeconomic statuses and learning styles. One of the our biggest strengths is also one of our biggest weaknesses--they LOVE to talk! They're full of enthusiasm and creativity and are always up for trying new things!
