Bringing a Love for Reading Back
Funded Mar 3, 2020Thank you for supporting my classroom and my desire to turn my students on to the love of reading. It is my desire that they will select one of these new selections and allow themselves to be transported into the lives of the characters in the novels you have gifted us. It is my belief that they will respond better to a book if they can relate to the characters in some way. Thank you for funding my project.”

Funded May 11, 2017My students and I are appreciative of the items you helped purchase for our classroom. The storage bins have really made a difference to the overall appearance of the classroom. My theater students and I are no longer worried about our props and costumes being damaged over the summer or when the custodians mop the floor. The books that were once being stored in boxes now have a safe place.
The paper shredder has truly been a blessing to me because I am now able to shred those important papers in my classroom and I don't have to find a paper shredder in the building to use. This has not only been useful to me, but to my department as well. The document camera makes projecting bell ringers for each class and copies of papers I want the students to see so much more easier. No more running down to make copies of everything because I am now able to project it right from my desk.
Thank you for your generous gift towards my classroom project. Your kindness really means a lot to me and my students. It is because of people like you who continually support education that I am able to do what I do in my classroom. Once again we thank you for your support.”

Bare Necessities for Good Hygiene
Funded Feb 10, 2017On behalf of all of us here, students and faculty, I would like to thank you for your generosity. As you can imagine it is hard for students to express a need for the items that you made available to them. Some of them are embarrassed to have to ask for these personal hygiene items, but they muster up the strength to ask because they know that we will do what we can to help them. And now we won't have to make a mad dash to the local store to buy any because you have made it possible for us to have a small supply here on campus.
As a teacher it breaks my heart to know that there are students at my school who are without some of the bare necessities that I know some people take for granted. I can only imagine how it must feel to need some of these items and not have access to them. Our administration and some teachers have been providing feminine hygiene products for any female student who asked for them. The toothbrushes and tubes toothpaste will make a world of difference to the student who hasn't had either in months until one of his teachers bought them for him because his family moved and his was lost in the move, and they didn't have the money to replace them.
It's the little things that make a big difference in the lives of children. Because of your generosity and kindness, we will be able to help more students hopefully feel better about themselves. "No act of kindness, however small, is wasted." Aesop”

Funded Jun 16, 2016Dear Donors,
My students and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the iPad, screen protector, and the Otterbox case you helped purchase for our class. Needless to say my students were extremely excited when they learned that we would have a class iPad for us to use whenever we needed and or wanted to try something new with technology.
My theater students have been taking full advantage of having this piece of technology in class to use whenever they want to record themselves practicing or performing in class. They have recorded themselves performing the skits they created using figurative language terms. Their assignment was to create skits that would show other students what words such as protagonist, antagonist, conflict, and flashback mean. I will now take their skits and embed them into qr codes, so that if a student wanted to see what a literary term meant they could scan the code and watch the skits. I was able to give them the assignment and watch them create, act, record, edit, and discuss what they were doing using the iPad. I think what the students enjoyed most about this lesson is that they were allowed to move around the campus to find different backdrops and settings for each scene they created.
My students have also enjoyed being able to play charades using the iPad. This game made it possible for the students to start to come out their shells at the beginning of the school year. I have some shy students in my theater class this year and playing this game in teams and as individual competitors has given them the confidence needed to be able perform in front of others. The students are preparing to make a movie trailer using the iMovie app.
Even though it is only one iPad, the possibilities are only as limited as our thinking. We greatly appreciate your believing in us and in our classroom. Thank you for your support of us and for your support of our education!”

This classroom project was brought to life by an anonymous donor and 9 other donors.A Love for Reading
Funded Mar 8, 2015Words can't express the gratitude and excitement I feel towards your donations. The books you have helped to purchase will enable my students to continue to build upon the foundation I am trying to help them build. I have some students who are always asking for something new and good to read, and now I will be able to pull one of these books off of the shelf and hand it to them with a smile because of your generosity.
I think some of my students were just as excited as I was when the books arrived. They have already looked through all of the books that I ordered, and they have picked out the books that they want to read. I am glad I ordered multiple copies of a few of the books! One of the books that you gave to us is a sequel to a book that several of my students have already read. They are pleased to finally have the second installment in the classroom.
Not only do my students read these books for pleasure, but they recommend these books to other members on the staff as well as their parents. I, of course, am happy to share a book with anyone who wants to read. On behalf of my students, I would like to thank you for your generous gift. Your commitment to helping foster a love for reading in our community is sincerely appreciated.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jackson
