My students are like my children, and my classroom is like a family. I work very hard to create a nurturing, safe environment where my kids can take risks to learn. We celebrate mistakes, we celebrate growth, and... we read, we read, and we read. This year we are focusing on developing minds like scientists. We will question, hypothesize, investigate, experiment... I want to spend as much time as possible with our hands ON our content. So, for me as the teacher, I want to be able to incorporate our vast science curriculum into reading and language arts as much as possible! I have a class of wonderful but diverse students. I have gifted learners as well as those with special needs. It is truly a community of learners, and I am lucky enough to have them for 2 years. We are a title 1 school in a suburban setting. 40% of our school is considered economically disadvantaged, with 60% of my class being labeled as such.
