  • A Book for ESoL/ELL Students

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for providing these books to our ESOL/ELL students. The teacher who got them is now teaches ELA to a variety of eighth graders who will benefit so the reach has moved beyond her ESoL classroom.

Of course the ESOL students like these books, many seeing themselves in the story. The high interest and personal connection makes the students WANT to read. Your generosity is so appreciated as these students often struggle to read in their second language. Some of them struggle to even read in their first!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Post

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 4 other donors.
  • More Manga, Maybe?

    Funded Mar 8, 2023

Our students are ecstatic for the NEXT 10 books in the Haikyu series. It the words of Bon Jovi "We are Halfway There" to having the whole series of 40 books.

Episodic Manga reading entices students to enjoy entire books sometimes in a matter of hours rather than days. Looking at pictures in addition to words encourages matric though and multimodal comprehension.

We have come a long way from the stigma of comics. Graphic novels, especially manga, are now mainstream and recognized as legitimate literature.”

  • Making Magic With Our Own Mental Magic Designs

    Funded Feb 23, 2023

When I ask students what they want to create or what they would like to create it with, I get so many answers. I know that we will use so much vinyl and that they want to try as many things as possible. Stocking up on these items allows us to keep on making, even after they have had their first try. It also means that we can encourage them to think of others and to design something for someone else. This encourages them to show kindness, but can also encourage them to think like entrepreneurs. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping to bring our student's ideas to life.”

  • Building Robots and Making Fun

    Funded Feb 18, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting this project and helping us get supplies and tools for our robot building and our design projects. Our students were very excited to see the grinder get unpacked so that we can smooth the ends of some of the axles we had to create to build our robots, then we will be able to use them as axles. The other items we will be using as we go forward to make and create with our graphic design projects. Having these supplies means that our students do not have to bring them in and will have a chance at making something unique.”

  • A Stable Table For Our 3D Printer

    Funded Mar 12, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting this project. I cannot believe how quickly it came together and we have already assembled it and gotten the printer onto the table. It is very stable and rolls so easily. We will now be able to safely roll our older printer to its safe space for storage while the HVAC is being replaced this summer, and we will not have to pick it up again. This means that it should last us another 8 years at least and that more students will be able to take advantage of its use. Our donors are so appreciated and we cannot say thank you enough for all you do for us.”

  • Help Us Make Our Designs Sticky

    Funded Feb 25, 2023

Thank you all so much for bringing this project to life and helping to provide materials for our upcoming projects. Not only will my students be using these but I will also be providing professional development to other teachers to show them how they can do these activities in their classrooms from elementary through middle school. This means that more students will get to find joy in being makers and creators, and thus we have provided for learning experiences that they might otherwise not get. This means so much and we are so thankful for our donors.”

  • Keying in On Our Making and Creating With Graphic Design

    Funded Feb 28, 2023

Thank you all so much for helping to provide project materials for our class. The students are so excited when Amazon packages are left by the door and we will be starting on our graphic design unit on Monday, so these are just in time. I want them to see that their ideas are important and that they can be creative in mediums other than those in traditional art class, but I also want them to see how that fits into design and engineering. This means so much to us and we are so thankful for those who have helped.”

  • Somewhere Safe to Put Our Stuff With the Roof Off

    Funded Feb 21, 2023

Thank you so much for helping to bring this project to life. We have to pack our whole building up for the HVAC remodel this summer and I will be using many of our tools to teach other teachers this summer. These bins will allow me to safely store and move them from place to place, and will help us spread the knowledge from our classroom into others. This means so much to us and we are so thankful for the support of all of our donors. Some items we would not be able to replace and this allows us to continue our work and outreach.”

  • Putting the Sparkle On Our Making and Giving

    Funded Dec 22, 2022

Thank you all so much for helping us to bring this project to life. As we approach the end of our robotics unit and move towards design, it is so important for us to have materials to make and create with. These materials allow us to do that and allow us to do so without the students having to provide anything for their projects. This means a lot because many of our students cannot afford materials for these projects. The kids pick the materials they want and are able to then use them to bring their designs to life. Engagement and creativity is raised so high. We cannot thank our donors enough for helping us to keep this going.”
