  • ABC Letter Learning for Me!

    Funded Sep 10, 2013

The students in my class have really enjoyed the supplies we have received due to your assistance with the Donors Choose project. Students learn by using their hands and making connections to their learning with play. As the year has progressed the students have enjoyed using the HotDots. At the beginning of the year they were simply matching letters and are now choosing vowel sounds and endings of words to match. They love the personal feedback these interactive learning tools provide them. Sorting letters by using reasoning to compare has allowed students time to explore letter similarities and differences. Students have also enjoyed creating words with the letter lacers. They began the year using fine motor skills to lace and have progressed to creating words they know or are learning. I am pleased to have these materials in my classroom and observe how they continue to grow with the students and their new skills. Thank you for helping them become familiar with letter sound connections.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • "Hear" Today And Reading Along For A Lifetime

    Funded May 11, 2013

Thank you so much for the generous donation you made to my classroom. With your support students are developing kindergarten academic skills with the use of technology which comes so natural to children.

The students in my class love that can use these devices for learning. They are so excited to use them for a variety of subjects with apps and websites. Students like that they are trusted to choose which app to use when working with the devices during centers. Students also have used the devices to take pictures of learning experiences which is very empowering to freeze a moment in time which they find important.

Your support has allowed us to obtain supplies to help create a 21st century learning experience which I strive to provide for my students throughout their day during direct and independent learning time. Thank you for supporting these students as they begin their lifetime of learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Books Here, Books There

    Funded Aug 6, 2012

Thank you so much for the generous donation you made to my classroom. With your support students are developing organization skills for life while growing their love of reading while also being environmentally friendly.

The students in my class love that they are trusted to keep their own books of choice within their cubby area. Although many are still reading the pictures the excitement continues to grow daily. The idea of taking home a book from school is equally as exciting since this is such a big responsibility.

Your support allowed us to obtain supplies that make kindergarten students responsible and ready to learn everyday with success at school and at home.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

As a kindergarten teacher I want to provide as many hands on experiences for the students in my classroom to build connections in their brains that last a lifetime. Our school is very eco-centered. We recycle, compost uneaten food from lunch, and collect rain water in large barrels for watering. The students at our school come with a variety of life experiences. I am honored to be their kindergarten teacher and begin the lifelong learning experience with them.
