  • 45 Pound Rubber Dumbells

    Funded Apr 15, 2025

Thanks for helping me steadily improve the healthcare I offer to injured athletes. As I look around the Athletic Training Facility, a majority of the tools we use every day are from donors like you. We have exercise bands, bikes, and weights from donors who choose to support classrooms through DonorsChoose. I will continue to build the program and what we are able to do to support athletes returning to sports from injuries as long as generous donors choose to support it. THANKS”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Jackson

  • Rubber Dumbells for Arms of Steel

    Funded Dec 14, 2024

One of the sets of dumbells is lime green. Our school colors are green and white. We really like the color variation of the weights. The change of color makes it easier to identify the weights. It also makes it look more interesting than being all black and chrome. Kids are already doing planks with rows, dumbbell pull-throughs, floor bench presses, arm curls, and several other exercises that are not specifically related to their injuries. Squats, deadlifts, and lunges have become more "interesting" as well now that we can challenge the student-athletes. You are helping to keep them motivated, knowing they are not "maxing out" our available weights.

    Thanks for choosing our projects.”

    Mr. Jackson

  • Moving on up the Weight Scale

    Funded Dec 25, 2024

THANK YOU!!! The weights will make a long-term difference for our students returning from injury. We have a few post-surgical rehabs right now that are using the dumbells you donated for goblet squats and farmers' carry. As an Athletic Training staff, we believe in training the whole athlete and not just the injured part of their body. Now with more options, we can help them strengthen their whole body while doing rehab for their injury.

It is a lot of fun when my students have to go to the office to carry the heavy boxes down again and again. Thank you so much for continuing to donate to our program and helping us grow strong, healthy kids.”

    Mr. Jackson

  • Snack Time 3.0

    Funded Sep 17, 2024

Thanks for supporting our classroom. The basic need for food, water, or shelter is something I never had to deal with growing up. As my wife and I became foster parents we learned just how many students are lacking the support at home. The non-threatening snack bins that you help fill are one of the easiest ways I can help support and meet some of those basic needs. Without your continued support of classrooms, teachers would be left to do it alone. You are amazing. Your gifts and efforts help increase the longevity of a teacher's career by supporting, encouraging, and funding their dreams to positively impact the world around them.”

    Mr. Jackson

  • Media Power

    Funded Aug 17, 2024

The kids are excited to see their photos on our giant display wall daily. Sometimes they get embarrassed, laugh, or simply smile when one of their photos pops up on the wall. The HDMI switcher makes it really easy to switch between devices rather than switching the TV input each time. it also allows for a more central device input station and reduces the number of cords needed to run from the TVs to the devices.

Thanks so much for choosing to support our classroom and improve the overall appearance and culture for my students.”

  • Wrenching Out Life Skills

    Funded May 24, 2024

The first day we got the new wrenches we went out to remove a quick release valve that was leaking from a water hose. The wrenches got right to work and helped me and the students make repairs.

Last week we lost a wheel on one of our water carts because the nut holding the wheel on had loosened and fallen off. Luckily I had a spare nut and wrenches to tighten it back down.

Wrenches and pliers aren't fancy and flashy but they sure help the kids learn life skills and get the job done.

All of the small projects sure add up to some really cool results that make the school a better place for the students to learn.

    I really appreciate your kindness.”

  • Building Dexterity with Duplo

    Funded Apr 26, 2024

"I gotta do the whole bucket, like all of these Duplos I have to pick up with my toes?"

Yes (student) you do have to use your toes to pick up each of these Duplos. it helps the muscles move and that helps flush the build-up of waste material from the ankle sprain.

Two days after we got the Duplos into the AT Facility we put them to use in our rehab.

We have a team building activity scheduled where the teams have to design and build a scene that represents our program. These new "toys" are going to get a lot of use in our Athletic Training Facility. Thanks for supporting my classroom and my students.”

  • Weight Rack for Organized Growth

    Funded May 9, 2024

Have you ever been in the middle of a project at home and had to leave it for a few weeks? Then you are stepping over the tools and busted-up tiles while waiting for the right pieces or enough time to dig back into the project. That is how I feel our facility was with the weights lying on the ground.

Now the bumper plates are on an easily moveable rack that keeps them well organized. An added benefit is the safety clips that we can use on the bar while lifting weights. I breathe a little easier knowing we aren't going to stump our toes on the weights lying on the floor. It looks nice, is more functional, and is safer for our student athletic injuries to recover. All because you chose to give to our projects. We aren't done improving yet...but for now thanks so much for your kindness and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Jackson

  • Switch Up the Classroom

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

Oh no!!! What did I do??? These kids kept me here for an extra hour last week playing video games. One Mario Kart race turned into a circuit, then we had to "run it back," meaning they needed a re-match. Daily, they wait until the jobs are done so we can jump on and start playing. Boomerang Fu is another simple group game that allows even the non-gamers to be competitive, get involved, have fun and be included.

Your gifts and kindness have made a huge difference in our facility. We have only been able to use it for the last two weeks but they are loving every minute of having the Nintendo Switch in the classroom.

It took a long time to get all the pieces assembled but our giant TV wall that displays pictures when we are not gaming is worth all the effort we put into it. Of course, none of this would have happened without your kind support and giving.

    THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Jackson

  • Cordless Drill for Building Life Skills

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

We fix a lot of things here in Sports Medicine. Most of the time it is injuries related to sports, but often we have to fix the equipment we use to fix injuries. Just this week I went to sweep the floor and the dust pan handle came out of the pan. Since we have a drill and driver we were able to drill a hole and put a screw into the handle. Now that screw keeps them from popping off and makes cleaning up easier.

We have a few new items coming in the next few weeks that we will need to assemble and the students will get to use the drill you gave us to build those. One of the students in the picture had never used a drill. I showed her how to put it in forward, reverse, how to loosen the "chuck" and replace the bit. She drilled the hole and attached the screw securing our dustpan.

Small life skills can go a long way. They may not go on to be construction workers, builders, or any other type of laborer, but they can at least tighten a screw on the door hinge, mailbox, or table.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Jackson
