Funded Dec 13, 2023We fix a lot of things here in Sports Medicine. Most of the time it is injuries related to sports, but often we have to fix the equipment we use to fix injuries. Just this week I went to sweep the floor and the dust pan handle came out of the pan. Since we have a drill and driver we were able to drill a hole and put a screw into the handle. Now that screw keeps them from popping off and makes cleaning up easier.
We have a few new items coming in the next few weeks that we will need to assemble and the students will get to use the drill you gave us to build those. One of the students in the picture had never used a drill. I showed her how to put it in forward, reverse, how to loosen the "chuck" and replace the bit. She drilled the hole and attached the screw securing our dustpan.
Small life skills can go a long way. They may not go on to be construction workers, builders, or any other type of laborer, but they can at least tighten a screw on the door hinge, mailbox, or table.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Jackson
