These 4th grade students are eager to learn and use technology, but don't have much access at home to many technology resources. The majority of my students do not have computers or Internet access at home. Our school is located an in low income suburban area and has a high percentage of students who are English language learners and students who do not have literate homes. This group of fourth graders are trying to make so much progress, but they are really struggling with basic literacy skills. Most of my students came in performing below grade level standards on their state test. Our goal is to move from below basic to proficient, and we have a lot work to do. Our areas of greatest need are fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
