Our school is incredibly ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, and the students in my classes come from many different neighborhoods and backgrounds. For many of them, the music department is a home away from home. It is extremely rewarding to watch kids bond across the lines of age, race, address and experience level as they create sensitive, quality music together.
