Preparing For Our Futures!
Funded Aug 25, 2014Thank you very much for your generosity and support, you have drastically changed my classroom for the better this year. When I received my laptop grant last spring I was elated, and then began almost immediately dreaming up new learning opportunities for my students. Many of these opportunities required additional supplies, many more costly than I could pay for by myself. You have stepped in and filled in the gap. My students and I cannot thank you enough.
When our goodies arrived in the fall we were elated! I explained to my students that someone who didn't even know them cared enough about their education to buy these things. They were blown away and humbled! Their outpouring of thanks was profound.
We continue to be grateful for your kindness as we endeavor in new projects, repeatedly using the tools you have provided for us. My students refer to you almost weekly with questions like, "Did our donors buy me this stylus to use?" and "Our donors bought this flash drive, right?"
You have made projects possible that would otherwise not have been possible. Students worked on a large project covering many math topics and spanning multiple weeks. They determined their driving questions and performed research collaboratively. The headphones allowed students within a single class to view and learn multiple topics at the same time while not distracting one another with noise. The flash drives allowed students to transfer project data easily and quickly between machines, as well as take their research and projects to other locations. As you can see in one of the pictures, the USB splitter and external hard drive are invaluable on presentation days. I can transfer saved projects directly to the external hard drive from student USBs using the USB splitter, and then save projects using our ample storage space. The styluses make doing math much more fun and interactive as students can draw on their screens and then submit visual responses instead of descriptions. I could continue on and on about the ways in which your gift have changed our classroom.
My students interact with math and learn math differently because of you. There are not enough words to adequately describe what I want to tell you so THANK YOU will simply have to do.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hester

Funded Jul 11, 2013Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot say thank you enough for the plentiful gift you each bestowed upon my students and myself. For many families, times are very tough. Purchasing tape and highlighters for their students' math class is simply not an option. This burden often falls on teachers, but people such as you help lighten that burden. When some students can afford tape and others cannot, having extra to offer makes the day easier.
In a recent semester survey where I ask students to "recall a time when you felt respected and valued in class" one student stated "when my parents would not buy me tape and you let me use yours for two weeks. That was when I felt most respected."
Thank for allowing such wonderful moments, not use mathematical moments, to happen in my classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hester
Interact with Math
Funded Sep 24, 2012My students and I are exceedingly grateful for your generosity towards our classroom. The interactive notebook supplies that you purchased have changed the way many of my students perceive math. Rather than tell you myself, I have some of their comments to share with you:
"I love coming to math class, knowing that I get to use my notebook!"
"This is going to be awesome in high school."
"I am keeping this forever!"
"Taking notes is so much more fun this year!"
I kid you not, actual students said these things! It is a teachers' dream to have this sort of excitement from students about Algebra; thank you for making it possible. From the depths of my heart: thank you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hester
