Payment Processing

The 3rd Party Payment Processing Fee is 1.5%. This rate represents the weighted average of the processing fees DonorsChoose.org incurs across the various payment methods used by our donors.

Specifically, for credit card or PayPal donations, DonorsChoose.org pays an industry-standard processing charge of about 2.5%. Check donations also incur a nominal handling and processing charge.

Large grants to fund classroom projects effectively do not incur a processing charge, since we typically receive a large check or wire-transfer.
