  • Math Fact Mania!

    Funded Sep 10, 2012

Thank you so much for donating to this project!

My students were astonished to hear that someone they've never met purchased Hot Dots to help us learn our math facts. These classroom materials allow students to master their math concepts in a developmentally appropriate way with manipulatives and visual representations. We have used the addition, subtraction, time, and money games with partners and in small groups. The Hot Dots have become an integral part of our daily routine, helping my young mathematicians master the complicated concepts of telling time, counting money, and computation. The class is excited when using these materials, thanks to your generous support!

Without donors like you, many classrooms would go without. Thank you for all you do to enrich the education of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sykes

  • The Power of the Wind

    Funded Aug 29, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The Windmill generator that you donated has helped my students experience alternate energy production in a hands-on, developmentally appropriate way. The books that you donated have doubled our non-fiction classroom library, and help bring many important science concepts to the fingertips of my students. These books are the most popular titles in our classroom library, and have spurred many independent research projects for my second graders.

Our school is currently facing a budget shortfall, so without your support, my students would never have had the exposure to these vital resources. For elementary students, this exposure is priceless and the ideas they sparked will remain with these students long after they leave my classroom, helping to ensure future academic success.

Without donors like you, many classrooms in the United States would go without vital resources. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sykes

  • Voracious Vocabularies

    Funded Jun 6, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The School-to-Home activities you have funded are developing the vocabularies and comprehension skills of my young learners with their most important teachers - their parents. These are reinforcing the enrichment activities we have at school using the Vocabulary Folder Games you also funded. The vocabulary games have helped my second graders take pride in learning new words and expanding their vocabularies.

Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sykes

  • Keep My Boys Reading with Boy-Friendly Books!

    Funded Dec 19, 2011

My students were astonished to hear that so many people came together to purchase these amazing books for our entire class. These books have allowed my class (particularly my boys!) engage with books in a fun way, using graphic novels and boy-friendly, exciting texts. We have used the graphic novels as a genre study, and they are the most popular books in the classroom library. Since they are so popular, they rarely make it back to the shelf, but are passed from student to student, shared with partners and even in small groups. The boy-friendly titles, such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, How to Eat Fried Worms, and The Chocolate Touch have engaged all students as they are read alone or in pairs. I even obtained the AudioBook of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and it has been enjoyed by all students, even though they might be reading at a lower level. The class is excited when using these materials, thanks to your generous support!

Without donors like you, many classrooms would go without. Thank you for all you do to enrich the education of our students”

  • Math Fact Mayhem!

    Funded Nov 10, 2011

Thank you so much for donating to this project!

My students were astonished to hear that someone they've never met purchased Math manipulatives for our entire class. These classroom materials allow students to master their math concepts in a developmentally appropriate way with manipulatives and visual representations. We have used the addition and subtraction search and find games with partners and in small groups. The regrouping chart has become an integral part of our daily routine, helping my young mathematicians master the complicated concept of regrouping ones, tens, and hundreds when adding and subtracting. The manipulative magnets have been used for tactile and visual reinforcement of difficult concepts, including money and fractions. The class is excited when using these materials, thanks to your generous support!

Without donors like you, many classrooms would go without. Thank you for all you do to enrich the education of our students.”

  • Bringing the World Home

    Funded Oct 5, 2010

Thank you so much for donating to this project!

My students were astonished to hear that someone they've never met purchased Weekly Reader subscriptions for our entire class. These classroom magazines allow students to broaden their view of the world, while incorporating our social studies curriculum focus of how communities are alike and different. We have used the magazines as shared reading materials, partner reading texts and individual research texts, and students take their copy of the magazine home weekly to share with their families, reinforcing the importance of developmentally appropriate and relevant non-fiction reading material. The additional materials provide a fun, interactive social studies station for our classroom, where students explore geographic and climate features, as well as people and cultures around the world. Thank you, thank you for the impact this has made on this classroom of students. The class is excited when it's time for Social Studies, thanks to your generous support!

  • Born to Be a Butterfly

    Funded Jul 25, 2010

Thank you so much for donating to this project!

My students were astonished to hear that people from around the United States helped fund our life cycles books and art materials. These books have become a part of our reference section in our classroom library, giving the class opportunities to research and study the different life cycles, which complemented our study of butterfly life cycles. We have used these books as our partner read texts, small group guided reading texts, and individual research texts. Thank you, thank you for the impact this has made on this classroom of students. The class is excited when it's time for Science, thanks to your generous support!
