  • Oodles of Doodles

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you for funding this project. Thanks to these doodle boards, I am able to do intervention with a larger group of students now that we have the materials to ensure that students are engaging in the multi-sensory aspect of the intervention. This means that I can be more efficient teaching students who are striving readers, and reach even more students to help them become proficient readers. I am so excited to see the impacts that this will have on these students and their reading journey. Thank you!”

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thanks for funding this project. Thanks to you, all students are able to have headphones to use during testing and when they are using online learning platforms. This is helpful for so many reasons- students can hear things read aloud to them without disturbing other students, they can watch educational videos with full sound, and more. This helps our English Language Learners access audio translations to help them bridge gaps between their home language and English. My students and I are grateful for your support.”

  • I Get By With A Little Help From My Fidgets

    Funded Jul 29, 2024

My students and I have really enjoyed the resources that were provided by this project. I was also able to share them with other special education teachers on my team, so this project actually benefitted our entire school!

The calm strips and the fidget rings have been a student favorite so far. As a teacher, the fidget rings are great as they provide a way for the student to get tactile sensory input while sitting at their desk and is not so distracting that they can still focus on the lesson. I can't wait to continue teaching my students how to use these resources to become even better learners!”

  • Neatness Is Beauty

    Funded Nov 13, 2023

Thank you for contributing to fund this project for my classroom and my students. So far, we have used the supplies to organize our learning materials, which helps save time and means that there is more time for learning! Students have really enjoyed the scratch off art activity as well. We use the washi tape to label items and make sure they go where they belong and don't leave the classroom. Research shows that students need an uncluttered space to do their best learning, so with the materials from this project we were able to make our classroom even better for learning!”

  • If These Walls Could Talk

    Funded Jul 26, 2023

This project has allowed me to create a positive learning environment for my students. This project included items that were both decorative and practical, and both are critically important to help contribute to an effective classroom community. My students love to be in my room and I never have to worry about running out of supplies like the ones that were in this project thanks to donors. Small things make a big difference and the items in this project made a difference for me and my students!”

  • Slam Dunk the Junk!

    Funded May 22, 2023

Thank you for donating to help supply our students with materials needed to start a trash pickup club. It is very important for students to learn about civic responsibility and taking care of public spaces. Students love getting to use the trash pickers and I have even noticed the students who participate being more mindful during other parts of the day about picking up their trash and reminding their friends and peers to clean up after themselves. We are teaching students the importance of community service!”

  • Super Special School Supplies

    Funded May 11, 2023

Thank you for helping bring this project to life with your contributions. This project included basic school supplies as well as more specialized supplies for students with varying learning needs. Both are equally important! These supplies helped my students finish the school year successfully and continue learning new things and growing all the way up to the last day of school. Without support from donors, I would not be able to provide my students with the materials they need to be successful, so thank you!”

  • Goal Getters

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Thanks for helping fund this project. We were able to use these rewards to give to students who met and exceeded their goals on middle of year testing. We also have plenty left over to provide rewards for our students on end of year testing! Reaching an academic goal is a huge accomplishment and we want to make sure our students feel recognized and that their hard work is appreciated. Some students also need a little extra motivation to stay focused and on task during long, hard exams so this rewards are a nice incentive for them too!”

  • Sensory Supporters

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thanks for helping fund this project. Now we have a sufficient number of noise cancelling headphones to give to all students who have sensitivity to environmental noise, and plenty of replacements if any get broken are lost. We also are now able to provide adapted paper to all our students who have fine motor deficits and need visual and tactile support to make their writing legible. This ensures that teachers can understand their great ideas and nothing gets lost in translation in the process of putting ideas to paper.”

My students are joyful, rambunctious, high energy and full of life. They all have big dreams- to go to college, to be lawyers, to be basketball players, to be astronomers, and more. I teach a self-contained, special education class in Baltimore, at a Title One school where one hundred percent of students receive free lunch. All of my scholars are unique in their personalities and learning styles, and demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. In my classroom, they learn critical academic, behavioral, and life skills. I want to give them all the tools they need to be successful and accomplish their goals.
