When you walk into my classroom, my students are often seen stretched out on the floor, leaning against walls or slouched down in a desk. Imagine working a job for seven to eight hours in a cold, hard seat with little freedom to stand or move about. Sound fun? Comfortable? I personally don't think so. Even my desk chair has padding. My students make do with what few flex-seating resources we have, but we desperately need more options. They spend a majority of their waking hours at school and I believe that student engagement would increase if my students felt like they could relax and focus more on what was being taught instead of how uncomfortable their seat is.
