Welcome to my Giving Page! Please support my efforts in Science Bloggers for Students challenge, a friendly month-long competition (10/10/10 through 11/9/10) between science blogs to see which can do the most to help low-income classrooms on DonorsChoose.org. Pick a classroom project from the list to support. And let’s beat the other bloggers! (By the way, DonorsChoose.org is a 501(c)3 charity. • Bringing Student Thinking to Life

    Funded Dec 3, 2010

As a classroom teacher it is very hard to teach without resources. With the addition of the projector I am able to use a document camera to project student work. This allows my students and I to maximize the limited instructional time we have available to study math each day. My students love the technology that we have in our classroom, as we are the only room in the building to have these tools. Using the projector and document camera has allowed my students to show their work to their classmates immediately, without having to rewrite their calculations.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Emery

  • Bringing Science To Life!

    Funded Nov 12, 2010

I just want to say thank you and let you know how much your generosity is appreciated. We have already begun using the ELMO in our classroom. The girls are able to follow along with me in my science book and view and discuss photos as a whole group rather than two or three at a time. I am also able to demonstrate labs and lab techniques for the class simultaneously. The girls love it and so do I.

Our city has decreased our budget by quite a substantial amount and manipulatives like the ELMO would have never made it into my classroom without you. Thanks to you my girls are able to see the world of science around them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Davis

  • Technology Tools While Pregnant

    Funded Nov 26, 2010

Thank you so much for the calculators and laptops. My girls have already seen an increase in their own productivity in all subjects. Technology seems to always enhance the engagement of my students, so they are more willing to stay on task and complete assignments. This is crucial for their success, as it increased their odds of wanting to stay in school and graduate.

They have been able to use the calculators for math, as well as their science courses. The laptops have given them the opportunity to complete assignments with a level of professionalism and send them directly to their home campus teachers. When they are able to use that same laptop to view their grades, that instant feedback motivates them to do more.

Thank you so much for these resources. It will continue to have a huge impact for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sewell

  • Creating a Science Lab for Little Learners

    Funded Oct 12, 2010

Thank you again for your kind donation that helped our Science Center come to life. My Kindergarten students are enjoying the center and getting more involved with learning the material. They are able to use the science kits to explore very cool things found in nature. They are able to touch, feel, compare and contrast those same things while doing many different activities. The students love the science sets and are all excited to become "Kindergarten Scientists". Thank you for making this a reality for these students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Talbert

  • Girls Are Good at Math! We Will Prove It!

    Funded Oct 23, 2010

Thank you so much for your kindness. We have opened all of our new stuff and the kids are even more in love with Math! It was amazing to see the kids' faces light up when they learned we have things to "play" with and learn from. I heard the kids talking and they are so happy that there are generous people in the world like you. Many of them even stated they hope that they can help kids in their future. Not only are my students learning the math skills needed to survive in our dynamic world, they are learning how support impacts their future. They are making the connection that not everyone is as supportive as they could be and that they do want to be as supportive as they can be in their future.

The biggest hit is the game 'Smath that we received. It's exactly like Scrabble, however, the kids must make true equations on the game board. I decided to have some friendly competition among my classes. The girls are so into the game, not realizing they are becoming more familiar with numbers at the same time.

I love seeing my students love learning, so thank you for all your did to support my girls!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pappas
