  • Fiddler Fun

    Funded Dec 7, 2012

Thank you so much for funding my project, Fiddler Fun. Indeed, we have had lots of fun with our fiddler crabs. The children love to interact and simply watch the crabs race sideways all around the aquarium. They have learned so much from their observations!

The children are responsible for the daily maintenance and general care of the crabs. I believe this teaches them an invaluable lesson about responsibility and learning to love and respect living things. They have also learned many interesting facts about fiddler crab habitats, the purpose and many uses for their large claws, and how to tell the difference between the males and females by checking out their claws...Fun Times!

Thanks again for your donation. You have truly blessed our classroom and we appreciate you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Green

  • Teacher at Sea = Third Graders Learning and Loving Oceans

    Funded Dec 31, 2012

Today, I am thanking you for the important impact your donation to my "Third Graders Learning and Loving the Ocean" project has had on my students' learning. As teachers, while we think we work to change the world, we are often mandated to teach content that will improve our state test scores where we measure learning impact through metrics.

While I expect our scores will reflect great growth, I assure you the impact of your donation on my students' learning far surpasses simple metrics. My children really and truly love the oceans. They have read the books you sent, watched videos about the ocean, and have written government representatives ( including the President of the United States ) to ask for support in our ocean protection cause. Also, these third graders have committed to using less plastic and reducing their "water" footprint. (They watch me every day to be sure I am using my reusable bottle!) How can you measure that interest!

As we continue the work you made possible through your donation, we are planning to record a short video to educate other students in our school about ocean protection and water conservation. While this learning is only a drop in the bucket of ocean knowledge, your donation that began as a trickle of learning and continues to grow. The true impact of your donation is not simply measured by my students' learning, it will be measured as these children grow into adults who care about our oceans and our planet's resources. Your donations really have changed the world.”

  • New Marine Science Center at Davis High School

    Funded Oct 16, 2012

There is no way to adequately thank you for the donation you have made to the students here at our high school and our school district.

By providing funding for new marine specimens and various pieces of lab equipment, you are helping to allow students to learn about scientific concepts in an exciting and engaging environment. Our teachers are now utilizing and will continue to utilize the facility to teach marine biology, biology, zoology, chemistry, and ecology, and actually have live animals in miniature reef ecosystems to teach with.

In addition to these teacher's benefits, housing numerous living marine specimens in the facility will provide students constant access to organisms for research purposes, various labs, and hand-on experiences.

Without generous and caring donors like you, establishing a facility like this would be extremely hard to do with today's tight budgets.

    We thank you very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Drott

  • Place Your Bets, We Need Some Nets!

    Funded Nov 2, 2012

"My students have learned so much from the donation of the marine echinoderms, fish, and other live aquatic supplies to our classroom. They have taken full responsibility for the care and maintenance of all the marine species int he classroom now. The largest tank (picture included) is downstairs in the lobby is viewed and discussed by over 2,000 kids a day. With the addition of the brittle sea stars, pin cushion urchins, pencil urchins, and sea biscuits the students are constantly viewing and watching them interact. Its so much easier to explain how something survives and lives when they can actually see the animals than to have them read it in a book. Thank you again for increasing the career choices and learning experiences for my students, with donors choose help and a few other donors I am able to completely immerse them in an aquatic world"”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Butler

  • To Honor Test

    Funded Nov 16, 2012

This letter can not begin to explain the deep appreciation and gratitude for your generous donations. We have been using the paints, markers, and other supplies on a daily basis. Your donations have helped the students explore and develop an appreciation for the arts.

Without your help I'm afraid the art program at our school would have been very difficult to teach. The economy as you know is still struggling and our schools are suffering.

Again, please know that your contributions have made a difference and are very much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jackson

  • Landlocked: What is the ocean?

    Funded Oct 28, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to my class. My students, as well as two other classes, were able to enjoy an experience of a lifetime by going to the aquarium.

Many of my students will live their lives without ever stepping foot in the ocean. On our trip, students were able to have hands-on experiences with this part of our world. We saw sharks, turtles, eels, jelly fish, and so many other types of animals. We even got to touch and feed some sting rays!

You have truly made a difference. Thank you for giving my kids this opportunity. I hope this has inspired them to see the world a little differently.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hanna

  • Under The Sea: Fish Are For Me!

    Funded Dec 18, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom and students. The fish tank, marine conversion kit, and marine animals that you funded have brought so much joy and life to our classroom! My students have been able to observe and explore marine animals in their habitat over the past several weeks. They have been able to make observations that many would have never been able to make in life without the benefit of a marine habitat in our classroom.

There is a major crisis in education right now. Educators and administrators are feeling the impact of cuts in all areas, especially in the area of science. It is through the help of wonderful people like you, that teachers are still able to give students the life changing experiences that will follow them in life.

Thank you for everything that you have done to help my classroom and students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Whisnant

  • Save Our Oceans! Save a Jellyfish!

    Funded Oct 30, 2012

This project is awesome. The jellyfish might just be the coolest class pet ever!!!! They are beautiful creatures that most people don't get to witness up close on a day to day basis. My students absolutely love them.

My students have been doing a lot of research on ocean ecosystems. It is a very interesting topic that students are always interested in.

Along with researching ocean ecosystems, we have also been researching pollution, specifically ocean pollution. The ocean trash can kit enabled us to pollute our own makeshift oceans. We learned about the 5 different pollutants that go into the ocean and how they effect the different aspects of an ocean. I think they liked the part where they got to create an oil spill. Don't worry, they did a great job cleaning up the synthetic feathers and fur that were covered in oil. YUCK! This was definitely a wonderful hands-on project that really educated my students about ocean pollution.

Thanks again for your amazing generosity!”

  • Shark Attack!

    Funded Dec 22, 2012

This is just a small token of my appreciation for your generosity in assisting in providing materials for our library. The shark books that you donated have helped my students ever day. The students have checked them out continually and they are rotating in and out nonstop. The students have been able to use them for research projects in the classrooms, for leisure reading as well as finding text structures with literature that students are interested in reading about. These books are used by the entire school of over 600 students. What a great asset to our library!

With our school continually facing budget shortfalls and decreasing funding your help has put many smiles on the faces of our students. The excitement and reaction of seeing the students with new books in their hands is indescribable. While these books will continue to nurture our students through the nonfiction text on sharks and sea life, they will also enjoy seeing and handling fresh new books from the library.

Without donors like you, projects like "Shark Attack" would never be funded and students would continue to do without the great materials that are available. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Under the Sea: Learning to Protect and Preserve

    Funded Oct 16, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our science classroom. The arrival and set up of the salt water aquarium have been tremendous learning experiences for the students. They continue to learn and explore the species each day. We are learning about their feeding habits and observe the interactions within the aquarium. We are enjoying caring for the aquarium and look forward to adding additional species in the future.

Without your support through Donor's Choose this project would not have been possible for our classroom. Thank you for your support of science education and hands on learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. George
