Thank you so much for making the storage of our pictures and music possible for our music classroom. We have used the external hard drive to save student composition projects and to save smartboard lesson files (games and worksheets, etc) The external harddrive has made it possible for me to continue my curriculum work over the summer and also to make sure that I have access to all of the school files necessary to ensure that I can create the programs for all of the concerts that our students perform.
Next year- students will be keeping portfolios of their compositional work and other music assignments. This will ensure that students as well as teachers, will be able to see their growth- which is a major component of our ARTS Grant.
I cannot believe how lucky we are do have the choral risers donated!!! This is like a dream come true for the singers in choir. We perform 2 concerts a year in the gym and we want them to be worth while! A lot of the singers get mixed in the crowd of vocalists and cannot be seen, just heard. Audience members are often leaning left and right and standing up to identify the soloists and other singers. Now, every singer's talent will be recognized, as well as their faces. The sound of the choir will drastically improve as well. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this donation. These risers will be used for years to come. Thank you!!!!”
I cannot begin to tell you how much your donation was appreciated by our classrooms, teachers and especially the students. The funding for our art programs and teachers continues to get dramatically cut and every ounce of support we get from the community restores faith and hope amongst our school community. It especially reminds the teachers of how important our job truly is and how we need to continue to look for forward thinking, thoughtful individuals and organizations like you to assist us in providing the best educational experience we can to these students who deserve so much more. We have already been using the cameras in class and the students love them. Again, these cameras will greatly improve this class experience next year and for many years to come. We have begun to go outside taking pictures, students have been checking them out to take pictures at home and in their neighborhoods and as a result, their compositions have definitely been improving already!
From myself, my photography class of 2009/2010 and the many many future classes, we thank you again for your generosity.”
Thank you so much for your unbelievably generous donation to fun our classroom LCD projector. My students are very engaged by interactive whiteboards, but unfortunately, only had the chance to use one another one throughout the day. The donation of the LCD projector allows me to bring the same technology in my classroom, and keep my students excited!
We have used the projector for many different things throughout the year, such as: PowerPoints, note-taking, video-clips from United Streaming, writing software programs, online grammar games, and much more.
Again, please understand how much this has impacted my classroom and teaching style for the better! Thanks a million!”
THANK YOU ALL for donating to our project, "READING IS FUN!" I am honored that you took time out of your busy day to view all the proposals and choose ours. The stickers and motivating sticker charts along with the table is motivating the students to reach for their goals intrinsically.
Like other districts and schools with financial budget cuts even little items like stickers and charts are a blessing. Elliot, a special thanks to you and your daughter. What a wonderful role model you are. Keep paying it forward!”
First, thank you for your generous donations to my poetry project! We have finished the project and students have all submitted their poetry portfolios and I am very pleased with the progress they made.
I believe a huge part of the progress that was made was because of the two class sets of literature that were purchased - Love That Dog and Poetry Matters. My classes loved reading Love That Dog and were able to easily see that writing poetry doesn't have to be rhyming and all elaborate - but instead it has to come from the heart. Poetry Matters taught them about the three ingredients to write a poem from the inside out - emotion, imagery, and rhythm. Before and after the poetry unit I asked them to rate their attitude about poetry on a scale of 1 to 10, and the majority of students' attitudes changed positively about poetry. They see it as something that anyone can do, and even now, when given the opportunity to free write, some elect to write in verse!
Because of the ISAT state testing, our plans for the community involvement piece have been temporarily put on hold, but I had a second version of this project funded with the sequel to Love That Dog (Hate That Cat) and I hope to continue it next year, as I am lucky in the fact that I loop with my students. After evaluating their pieces, I would still like to have them put in a little more work on their poems and really master the poetry "upgrades" as I call them, or adding simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification...etc. I think that after another unit on poetry next year, they will be ready for an audience outside of their peers.
Thank you so much for your donations to our classroom. We are so excited that we get to use composition software to write our own music. Students have been looking for an outlet for their individual creativity and having the software and the technology in our district has really helped us to provide that outlook for students. The creating music software has helped students identify same and different melodic phrases and has helped students in creating their own music. Students love feeling as though they created something really special and now that they have this software available to them they ARE able to make something special and unique. ALL of my classes have enjoyed using the software and the composer books. We are getting a lot of use out of them and we are looking forward to making better student compositions in the future
The digital cameras have had a positive impact on my 3rd grade students. Since many of the students are from low income families, they either don't have digital cameras or their parents don't let them use them for fear that they will lose or break the camera. The students were thrilled to learn how to use the cameras to take pictures, download them, and print them out. The orientation book that they made has been a great addition to the student intake process of our building. The students are very proud of this book.
Your generosity continues to make our city a wonderful place to grow up.”
We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations. This has changed the way our students see outdoor movement education.
Before the students were aware that we were going to receive equipment for movement education they kept asking for things to play with outside. At times they didn't feel like going outside because they would say there was nothing to do. The day the students received the equipment they were so excited to see the balls, hula hoops, and jump ropes. They have been playing so many games with the materials they received. They have expressed how happy they are to go outside and have things to play with.
With your generous donations you have reached over 850 students at our school. Thank you again for the kindness you have shown towards our students. ”
The gifts you have provided to my students is greatly appreciated. My students use the flashcards to practice their numbers and letters each day and. For my students that have many sensory needs these cards are perfect for them and keep them engaged. Another student practices his lowercase letter formation with the letter builders which also help fulfill his fine-motor needs, he gets so excited when we take the builders out for centers. My older students love the color-changing board to practice writing and spelling their words each week. All of these activities help my lessons be out of the ordinary and truly do motivate the kids to learn.
I am currently still waiting on items that I ordered through my school from the beginning of this year, so because of you I was provided with necessary materials for my students to use immediately.
There are truly not enough people in this world like you so thank you so much again.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Johnson
