Education budget woes felt throughout Florida are preventing many teachers from obtaining necessary science equipment, thus crippling them at a time when a brand new set of state science standards is demanding that they give students more in-depth science instruction. Let's help these teachers out, and let's get Florida students excited about science!
  • Caterpillars, Chrysalis And Butterflies, Oh My!

    Funded Sep 18, 2009

Thank you so much for your donation to our class. The students enjoyed the project and were able to see the Life Cycle of a Butterfly from beginning to release on our beautiful campus! The caterpillars arrived and the students were so excited to watch as they ate the food and became big, fat caterpillars. Then they crawled to the top of their jar and made their chrysalis. The students were enthralled. THEN, the butterflies began to emerge from their chrysalis. The students could not believe that they had watched the Life Cycle of a butterfly.

So many of my students were fascinated to witness this amazing process. It has inspired many of them to learn more about animals and how they grow and change. Without this project, this unit on Animal Life Cycles would have been another boring reading assignment. The caterpillars brought this unit to life and gave my students an incredible experience.

Thank you so much for your generosity. You have truly made a difference in the learning experiences for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. P.

  • Getting Our Hands Dirty! Or Gloves

    Funded Sep 18, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Our students often go without many things that can and do enhance learning. Thanks to your generosity our students were able to utilize the tools ordered to have hands on experiences with many science activities. They dissected chicken wings to compare their similarities to humans. They were able to see real bones, ligaments, muscles, joints, etc.

Our students need visual, hands-on experiences to retain important information. Thank you so much for allowing our students to have this opportunity. The items will be used for years to come. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

  • What's The Big Idea??

    Funded Sep 18, 2009

My first grade students are very excited about the new science materials. They look forward to using the tools and have expanded their understanding of the world around them through the manipulation of the tools. In our study of our big backyard, my students have been able to observe items in nature and their immediate surroundings through the use of the binoculars, magnifying glasses, and microscopes. They loved looking at the snake skin found on the playground in the microscope. My students are fired up about science.

Another surprise lesson is the fact that the items they are most excited about within the room came from donations. The students have been really impressed that you made them possible and are very thankful. And of course I am very thankful as I love seeing my students fired up about learning and excited to explore nature and science more deeply through the use of observation tools. WE really appreciate the donation. Thanks for Rocking my Students World and creating Future Scientist!!!”

  • Magnets and Life Cycles and Science... OH MY!

    Funded Sep 18, 2009

Words cannot express how grateful I am for your kind donation. The children were so excited to see our new Science materials and manipulatives come in the mail. They could not wait to learn about life cycles, weather, seasons, magnets, sink or float, and the five senses. They immediately begged me to teach them something new, which of course I did. They have been having a great time using the manipulatives and the learning centers. It's amazing how much they love Science and learning about new concepts.

The wonderful items that you provided for my classroom have enriched the learning of my nineteen fabulous students. The teachers next to me love coming over to borrow the learning centers to use with their classes as well. So you have helped enrich the learning of other Kindergarten classes.

Without the generous donations from donors like yourself, my students would not have the necessary tools to bring Science to life and make learning more exciting. My students and I are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You are truly a blessing to us! ”

  • Measurement and Time Using Inclined Planes

    Funded Aug 9, 2009

I am so excited to hear that you have funded my classroom project. It is great to see that you share my vision for hands-on science materials to increase science and math concepts.

The tools that you have funded will enable students to see first hand science skills, measurement, time, and speed with the use of inclined planes. I will be able to demonstrate those skills with the materials you have funded. WOW! I plan on seeing the excitement the students have with the experiences of a true scientist. They will be able to follow the steps of the scientific process to initially get them ready for different experiments throughout the year.

I hope to share with my colleagues these science techniques.Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these tools to the children.

    With tremendous gratitude,

    Mrs. Crump”

  • Science is in the Lens of the Beholder

    Funded Aug 9, 2009

Thank you so much for providing our 2nd grade class with magnifying glasses. These have helped the students in my class to become even more excited about science. The students have learned the science concepts that we have covered in such a meaningful way.

With the use of magnifying glasses, students are so involved in what we are learning that they frequently do not want to stop the science lesson. Many have suggested ways that we can use the magnifying glasses to extend our science lessons, so that they might continue to use them. We enjoy them so much that students frequently request to use them during free choice time!

I have found that in the science lessons in which we have used the magnifying glasses that students are retaining the content more completely and are better able to discuss what they have learned. The magnifying glasses have not only helped my students to learned about insects, soil, matter and plants but have helped them to have a lot of fun while learning. This was a gift that has made teaching science so much fun. We are very thankful! ”

  • First Grade is Out of this World

    Funded Aug 9, 2009

This letter is just my small way of saying thank you for helping my students in such a big way. It is so wonderful to find other people that share my passion for teaching young children to read. Now that my first graders are confident readers we started our "Out of This World" space unit and we have been able to use all the great resources that you provided for us. We have been reading all the grade level books to gather information for our planet reports, we are using the scaled models to explore the solar system and we have put together the floor puzzle many times. Without these resources my children would of had to read texts that were too hard and very frustrating. Now they are excited about exploring the planets. They run to me with their book in hand to tell me what they have learned.

As you know schools and teachers are faced with constant budget cutbacks. It is nice to know that there are people out there that still value the education of our youth and they understand that teachers can't do it alone. You have made me feel like I have a partner. My class will be enjoying the books for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Goodwin

  • Disgusting Dissection = Loads of Learning

    Funded Aug 8, 2009

Thank you very much for providing my students the opportunity for a hands-on experience during our life science unit on food chains/food webs. Prior to this lesson, our students were learning about the predator-prey relationship. Reading from books has its limitations in that the students learn best by "doing" not reading. The suspense was building for several days leading up to this investigation. When the day came, they were super excited to observe the "mystery pellets."

This lesson allowed for the students to be "real scientists." We discussed the tools they would need to find out more about what they had in front of them. We were able to incorporate the use of hand lens', measuring tapes (which should be used... cm or in?), microscopes were used (not pictured), safety procedures addressed, and careful note taking of what they found.

The students then researched more about the hunting behavior of owls and found some interesting information that they have shared in their letters. There was also a great home connection, in that the students then had conversations about what they learned and did at school. I was able to flip video the lesson and send to parents, so they can have a glimpse into their child's day.

The impact that this project has had on my students has been substantial. They continue to talk about it, and bring new information to our class daily. Thank you once again for this great opportunity.”

  • Gellin' In Class

    Funded Aug 13, 2009

Thank you so much again for helping my students with the materials for the "Gellin in the Classroom" lab. The hands-on lab has provide great understanding for the students and is a lot of fun to them as well. Students have become so actively engaged in the activity and the books provide an excellent resource.

The information is clearly understood and even provides "real-world" analogies to the gellin lab. Students gained an understanding of the materials they were using and can't wait for the next activity.”

    With gratitude,

  • Let's Get Physical

    Funded Aug 9, 2009

Our class received the materials and we were so excited. Science had been delivered to our classroom thanks to you. We (the kids and I) were like kids at Christmas.

During the past couple of months we have been able to use the kits. They have brought so much excitement to my classroom. Other teachers have asked to borrow them because the kids in my class told them about the experiments in the kit. Because of the kits, test scores were much higher and kids were extremely excited. I appreciate your donation. It meant a lot to a lot of people.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parker
