  • BHS Tennis Court Resurfacing

    Funded May 17, 2013

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children.

The tools you have funded will enable me to teach students the basics of tennis and allow students the ability to play who cannot afford to purchase tennis rackets.

I hope to demonstrate the lifelong benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle to my students. I am looking forward to sharing the joy of tennis with students who would otherwise not have the opportunity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rouveyrol

  • Students With Special Needs and Literacy

    Funded May 25, 2013

Thank you so much for donating books to our class. My students were so excited. They said, "Wow, how did they know we needed books?" I explained the process and they were so appreciative. One child said, "I am so glad they value my education." It really warms my heart to be able to give them opportunities to read great text. They are so motivated and have a million questions. It makes literature circles and small group instruction extremely more meaningful. We will use these text in small group instruction. We will compare the text, explore vocabulary, plot, and main idea. These students grew tremendously last year and thanks to you I will be able assist them in continuing as lifelong learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Aymett

  • Hark How the Bells

    Funded Oct 5, 2010

Thank you so much for giving my classroom the opportunity to expand our learning of music. These bell kits are not only being used by our percussionists, but all students are learning about pitched percussion instruments. We are able to discuss enharmonics, whole versus half steps, and scale patterns.

We were even able to use them on the Winter Concert. They sounded wonderful!

As you can see from the posted pictures, my students are very excited. This would not be possible without selfless donors like each and every one of you.”

  • Help Our Students Learn Algebra with Hands On Equations

    Funded Jul 2, 2010

For many of my students, algebra is a struggle for them. However, with these materials my students have enthusiastically studied and mastered many aspects of algebra. My students eagerly look forward to the days when they area able to use their materials.

Not only do my students enjoy using the manipulatives, they are also gaining a foundation and understanding of algebra and algebraic concepts. They are understanding the formulas and equations and are gaining much needed confidence as a result.

I cannot thank you enough for providing these materials for my students. You have helped them learn important mathematical concepts that will aid them as they finish their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Findley

  • Let's Whack Those Birdies!

    Funded Sep 20, 2010

I would like to take the time to thank you for making my project possible. Without your assistance, getting this equipment to the children would not have been possible. As a youngster, racquet sports were always something that I enjoyed. I really wanted my children to experience something other than football and basketball.

I definitely had some initial resistance, especially when they couldn't serve the shuttlecock. But as they practiced, I could see their confidence increase. Many children wanted to continue to play the sport and still ask about it daily. Even children who do not have the desirable BMI, loved the personal challenge of trying to hit the birdie to themselves. Again, as their success rate increased, their self confidence increased.

Finally, I would like to thank you again for donating to my school. The children enjoyed themselves and will be able to enjoy themselves in the future thanks to your kindness.

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Coffey

  • Math Center Fun!

    Funded Sep 26, 2010

Thank you for your generous contribution to our classroom. Learning has never been so fun and meaningful!

The goal for this project was to help students improve their numeracy skills by incorporating more hands-on math games and activities. We have used the games in both large and small group lessons, centers, and free time. When given free choice in the classroom, many of the students head toward the math shelf for an activity. By making learning more "kid-friendly", I have seen a greater interest in math.

Thank you for allowing my students to learn in a fun and motivating way. You have helped build the foundation for future learning!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jenni Mason

  • Problem Solving in Math

    Funded Oct 22, 2010

THANKS SO MUCH for helping to make this project possible!! I'm CONFIDENT that this project - made possible by your generosity - will help my students be more successful in math both now AND in the future. With these supplies, we'll be better able to make up for the fact that we don't have textbooks that my kids can take home (or even ones that are aligned to the current state test...), so that kids can do more learning both inside and outside of class.

I truly appreciate each and every one of you in helping make this project a reality - PLEASE KNOW that you are making an honest difference in kids' lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. R.

  • Fun Algebra Books as Textbook Alternatives

    Funded Oct 5, 2010

Thank you very much for your generous support! My students will really appreciate the new ways that we'll be able to master math concepts with these new resources. The flashcards will help students strengthen the basics, the Danica McKellar books will help students study the material in an approachable way, and the math tricks books will help me come up with creative ways to use what we're learning.

My students and I truly appreciate your contribution to our classroom. Thank you for your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. S.

  • Around the World in 80 Days-Fly Away on a Magic Carpet Ride

    Funded Aug 17, 2010

Thank you for providing us with a phenomenal place to sit, read, share and play. As my 28 students collect for meetings, reading, and stories to share, we meet in a "jelly bean" shape around the new rug. The day it arrived, the students could be quoted to say, "the kids look like us," and "Oh man! That's so cool!" I couldn't have been more thrilled to remove the old "stanky" rug (those are their words), and exchange it for the "Hands Around the World" rug.

Your gift has made an immediate impact in our classroom comfort and fun! The smiling faces, bright colors, and lovely books give the classroom a warm and inviting feeling, and create a central meeting space for the students and staff. Thank you for the amazing gift.

We appreciate you, and hope you enjoy our pictures! All the best! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pitts

  • Roller Coaster Physics Energy

    Funded Aug 29, 2010

The timing of your generous donation was incredible. We received this K'NEX kit just in time to build it and learn about all types of energy and where, in real-life, we encounter these types of energy. I had previously talked about rollercoasters and diagrammed pictures, but this is so much better!

I am looking forward to being able to use this kit for many years to come. It really helps give my Physics students a good visual and hands on experience that they would not otherwise have had.

Rollercoasters are now so much more fun!! Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Beard
