  • Moms Managing Money

    Funded Apr 2, 2009

Thank you all so much for your kind generosity in helping to fund, "Moms Managing Money". Our Adult Ed class learned so much about themselves as they began to really look at where they were spending their money and where they could be saving. It comes as a surprise when one starts to realize that wants are sometimes put before needs in our personal spending. Also helpful with this curriculum was the part where one identifies short-term and long-term goals and how to plan ahead so that these goals might be achieved. I think this curriculum will make a real difference in the lives of the students in our Adult Ed class as they obtain their GED and get into better jobs where new financial goals for their families can finally be realized. Thank you SO much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Robles

  • Creative Social Studies

    Funded Apr 1, 2009

The students have enjoyed expressing their creativity in class. The project that stands out the most has been in the Sociology class. Students were to create a collage entitled "American Values". After a week of identifying the major values in America, the students went to work on finding examples that they believe exemplified the core values. Many students who are not "into typical classwork" showed the most creativity. They were able to show their learning through their products.

Thank you all for allowing the creativity to blossom in my classroom. The students are very excited about learning. Without your support, some students may have been less able to show what they know.”

  • In Our Little Town

    Funded Feb 7, 2009

    Dear Friends of the Classroom,

My class and I would like to thank you for your contribution to "Our Little Town". We have worked all year to earn our income, pay our taxes and earn some interest in our "bank". Now we get to see the fruits of our labor as we have finally earned enough money to buy the items we have worked so hard for.

Your contribution has been used to buy those items which are sold in the "store". All of the items in the "store" are things that we use in our classroom, or that we have learned to use to enhance our learning of key concepts, such as Sudoku puzzles, Yahtaee games, pens, pencils and erasers.

We have enjoyed traveling this journey with the help of caring people like you! Your concern for education is greatly appreciated by each of us, and will not be forgotten! Enjoy your summer!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. S.

  • Empowering 1st Graders as Producers and Consumers

    Funded Jan 28, 2009

Thank you so much for supporting our hands-on learning of economics in my first grade class! I am so grateful for your donations! The kids loved making picture frames, bookmarks, critters and creatures, and gifts for friends and family members. During our economics unit, the class earned "money" and they were able to spend their "money" at our in-class store. They couldn't wait to go "shopping" and purchase the crafts made in class to give to others! The lessons learned thanks to your generous giving are so important as these children grow up to be true producers and consumers.

I just wanted to tell you, from the bottom of my heart, that what you have done for us matters and I feel honored that you chose us to support. In addition to the social studies concepts learned through this project, my students also saw firsthand the power and pleasure of generosity, giving, and helping others when they received so much from you. Thank you for caring about the learning that goes on in my classroom, and thank you for caring about my kids!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smiley

  • We Mean Business

    Funded Apr 3, 2009

I can not thank you enough in supporting my student project for "We Mean Business"!

My students can really benefit from your funding of our computer and printer. You have contributed to my students' future in a most productive way! My students can now plan to become entrepreneurs in the field of photography t-shirt, banner, and tote-bag business.

My students are very excited and we can't wait to get started! Pictures and letters are forthcoming.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. D.

  • Our Thriving Economy

    Funded Dec 8, 2008

Thank you so much for your support with "Our Thriving Economy" studies in second grade. The children will love having real-working cash registers for our classroom store. We feel so fortunate that you chose us and contributed to our project. Your donation will benefit generations to come. Thank you for being part our very first year of integrating this unit of study in to our curriculum.

    Sincerely,

  • A Mathematical Mini-Economy

    Funded Nov 13, 2008

Thank you so much for funding "a mathematical mini-economy". I am very excited to have the tools for a mini-economy provided for my students. This mini-economy will help students learn how to track income and expenses and will teach them the value of a dollar. The materials you provided will supply the mini-economy with items for the "sales counter" as well as with real forms to complete. Again, thank you for your contribution to my students' education”

    Funded Dec 2, 2008

I really appreciate your help. I will now be able to bring economics to life for my students. I can't even describe the thoughts and ideas that are running through my head for interactive lessons and activities. This technology will truly revolutionize my teaching. Thanks again”

  • Classroom Economy in Need of Supplies!

    Funded Dec 17, 2008

How wonderful! I am elated to hear that my project has been fully funded. I was just thinking about it today and hoping that it would be funded soon. The kids deserve some rewards! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Our classroom economy is going very well this year. The kids have sometimes gotten stressed as rent day approaches, but they are also motivated to come in the room with their shirts tucked in, homework in hand, and a smile on their faces. They have even done enrichment projects for extra "cash," and their earnest work on Powerpoints, posters, and models has enlivened our classroom.

Thank you, again, for allowing me to reward these youngsters for their awesome effort”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • Murder at the Margin - Econ Nerd Mysteries Part 2!

    Funded Nov 19, 2008

Wow! This is fantastic - you are wonderful! I can't begin to tell you how excited I am and how fantastic this will be for my students to get these books! I told them about the books at the beginning of the year and they have been asking me when we would get the chance to read the books. I've had to tell them to just hold and we would try as soon as we could and now I get to tell them the good news!

You are fantastic, wonderful and I (we!) am so excited about this - I can't wait.

    Thank you again, Jennife”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Yeomans
