  • Sewing is Sew Fun!

    Funded Jan 16, 2009

Thank you again for your generous donation for my class room. The sewing machines you sent allowed for my students to sew pajama pants this semester. While making these pants, my students learned imperative creative and critical thinking skills and cooperative learning skills. The most inspiring all was the profound change of attitudes in my class room.

Several of my students were so excited about this project that they spent every extra minute they had during the day in my room working on their pants. These young men and women finished quite a bit earlier than the rest of my students with beautifully completed pants and amazing understanding of how to sew. They stepped up to help those students who were slower, frustrated, or struggling to completing their pants. It was a very unique classroom atmosphere; even when I was sick and unable to be at school I knew these students would be able to keep my class room functioning. At the end of our sewing unit, with the help of my newfound "teachers," all of my students felt a sense of accomplishment from finishing a sewing project they would actually utilize.

Your donation of the sewing machines did more than just help my kids learn to sew; it helped my students become dynamic leaders in the class room. Thank you so much for helping my students realize their inner potential.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McNally

  • Warm Head, Warm Heart

    Funded Jan 14, 2009

Wow! Thank you so much for your generosity. My students have been longingly looking at the looms, wondering when we would be able to start. They are so excited to do this project. Now is the perfect time with the weather being so cold too. The hats will be greatly appreciated by those we donate them to. This will be a life long skill the students are learning, as well as service to others. Your generosity will also be noted when we donate these hats. Thanks again for helping us help others”

  • Elective Class - Let's Learn to Knit

    Funded Oct 8, 2008

Please accept this note as a sincere thank you for funding the knitting needles and yarn for my elective class. The idea to teach knitting came from our home economics teacher. She does a short unit on knitting; however, many of the students have never seen a person knit before. Now, with me teaching the basics in 6th grade, they will be more successful next year. Knitting is a cross-over skill and will help them with focus, coordination and even math. Because many of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, they would not be able to purchase the necessary supplies. Thank you, again, for thinking of us.

  • Sit N Knit ~ Crochet Crew

    Funded Oct 3, 2008

I really appreciate your generosity. The students at our school have been so excited to get this club going. I think it will provide a great creative outlet for them. Knitting and crocheting will also help them relax and get relief from stress at home and at school. The club will also create a nice community within the school. I find Sit n Knit/Crochet Crew to be an oasis in a chaotic environment- time slows down and its very healthy and satisfying”

  • Crochet Club

    Funded Oct 24, 2008

Thank you so very much for funding our crochet club! The students are so excited about getting started. They have been asking daily if we've received the funding. The students have to sit in the hallways for 45 minutes before school begins. Learning to crochet will be a skill that they will remember for the rest of their lives. We are even hoping to make scarves and hats for some of the homeless people in our town.

Thanks again for providing a valuable experience for our children.

  • Knit One (Teacher) and Purl Together 30 (Students)

    Funded Oct 6, 2008

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Your gift will allow our students to continue improving their knitting skills. They will be so excited to see your gift of yarn and book sets with needles. My students rely on my knitting program to provide them with what they need to complete their projects since they cannot afford yarn stores on their own. It is so amazing that I will be able to share these materials with them soon. You have made a group of knitters very happy today. Thank you”

  • Art Creativity Centers - Let's Weave!

    Funded Oct 7, 2008

Thank you so very much for funding our project! I was thrilled to find that this project had been funded for our students. The weaving learning center will give students an awesome opportunity to learn a new skill, and it will also enable them to create pieces of artwork by working together in a cooperative setting.

We so appreciate your generosity and kindness. Please know that every little bit helps at our school, and it is wonderful to have people like you supporting us!

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Laur”
