No one likes your new name (who wants to take the time or energy to say "Football Bowl Subdivision Independents", anyway?), but no one can deny the tradition of your schools. Why join one of those new-fangled conferences when you've already got all the passion and history you need on your own? Whether it's another epic battle for supremacy between the Service Academies or the countless banners that lavishly decorate the halls in South Bend, the independents don't need a conference to make a name for themselves. The sports gurus have speculated that the age of successful independent football programs is in its waning stages. But you know differently. It's time to prove the "experts" wrong. • AP Biology Laboratory Supplies For Our New AP Course

    Funded Oct 9, 2008

Thank you for your generous gift of learning to my science class. We have often struggled in the past to find just enough funding to do the things that students really need to do in order to experience science. Science is a quest that is achieved best by doing, and not just by sitting through memorization activities. I am certain that you are aware of the frustrations teachers and students alike feel when educational gains are limited by financial factors. With your generous gift, my students will be able to continue the quest for understanding through real hands-on experiences. Again, thank you! I am truly appreciative of your kindness”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. C.

  • The Meaning of "Generous"? Let Me Look It Up...

    Funded Aug 20, 2008

Thank you so much for your generosity! I had all but given up hope of getting such a seemingly "mundane" need funded when there are so many other exciting projects out there. I am very excited, and have told my students, who are also thrilled. I look forward to sending you proof of how much we need and appreciate these dictionaries! Again, thank you very much! Without your generosity, I would not have been able to see my students' faces light up as they did today when I told them about Donors Choose.

    Gratefully,

    Debra ”

  • Project Read

    Funded Dec 23, 2008

I am extremely grateful for your donation to our project. My Kindergarten students will now have a display for books that should encourage more reading, and I will save room by being able to store books. I will be able to display books that integrate with the topics of discussion in my class. When children see the covers of the books, they will be more interested in reading various topics. The more a child is exposed to books, the more they will learn. These students need to learn to love reading at an early age. Exposure to as many reading materials as possible at an early age will encourage a love of reading. My students will be excited to see the new book display tower. It is a very welcome addition to our classroom and will be used appreciatively for years to come.

    With many thanks,

    Autum”

  • What? Alternative Energy Sources and Reading Comprehension

    Funded Nov 20, 2008

Thank you so very much for providing the science resources that my students and I have requested! We cannot wait to receive these materials, which will allow us to begin a much more thorough examination of the scientific concepts related to alternative energy sources. When we come back from our winter break in January, we will be focusing our efforts on Astronomy, which will lend itself to Solar Energy as an alternative energy source. I am positive that the students will find the topic much more interesting, thanks to your generous funding of "hands-on" science activities related to the topic. In addition, the science encyclopedias will provide outstanding opportunities for the students to read about the concepts, while we construct the related science kits.

Once again, thank you for your interest in these wonderful young children, and for believing that it is possible to impact their future academic success!

    Sincerely,

    Dougla”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. A.

  • Hoosier Hoedown

    Funded Sep 8, 2008

I can't wait to tell my students tomorrow that they will have the opportunity to try something new, exciting, musical, and historical. I am also very anxious to share this news with my teaching partner. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! It proves to my students that many others value education. Thanks again!

  • Walking with a Purpose!

    Funded Sep 4, 2008

Thank you so much for the donation to my students! It really means the world to me to know that there are people still willing to help make a difference in the education of others. My students will be thrilled to use the pedometers. Children with autism are so different; yet, walking is universal. The pedometers will bring everybody at the school closer and a jolt of energy to the adaptive physical education class. I understand that my students will never be world-class athletes; however, I am certain that it is my responsibility to make them healthy. Walking is the first step in achieving our ultimate goal of completing the virtual marathon. Once again, on behalf of the students and staff here at school, thank you so very much”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Z.

  • Let's Enhance Literacy!

    Funded Sep 3, 2008

Thank you SO very much for your generosity in helping my students enhance literacy at such a young and critical age! We have worked so hard to create a classroom library that is appropriate and lends itself to learning but our resources have been limited. With the literature you have provided, my thematic units will be much richer and more meaningful for the students. These books will give them the jump start to reading and more importantly ENJOYING reading-as they will enhance our current classroom climate. Thank you again and again on behalf of my school, my classroom and my students”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Higgins

The parents of my young children will be able to read in their native language and feel that they have successfully contributed to their child's education! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. A preschool teacher who feels reading "makes the world go round"”
