Holy cow!!! When I came into school this morning and saw that my project had been funded I actually squealed. By funding these books you will greatly improve my language arts lessons. As I stated in my proposal, it is so frustrating to take a worthwhile class and then not have the resources to follow it through. By purchasing these children's books for me, you have changed the way I will do my writing lessons. Now I will be able to conduct mini lessons using children's literature. Topics from these books include: adding voice to a piece of writing, staying on the topic, and pacing a story.
I have been teaching second grade for 28 years and some days I feel quite uninspired. Thank you for putting new life into my teaching. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I was absolutely thrilled to learn that my project has been funded!! This is my first experience with DonorsChoose.org and I am so excited that donors like you truly care about our public schools and public school students. I know the materials that my class will soon be receiving will truly enrich their educational experience. Hands-on activities are so valuable, especially with our youngest students. I can imagine the look in my students eyes as they touch genuine fossils, watch a volcano erupt, observing how caterpillars eventually become butterflies and plant their own marigolds. I think they will also be enriched by knowing that people like you care about their education. On behalf of my students and myself, I would like to sincerely thank you for your generous donation”
I cannot thank you enough for your generous support. As children living in an urban setting my students face adversity everyday, so for them to be able to know that they can come to school and have the tools that they need to succeed means so much. I can assure you that these dictionaries will be well taken care and, most importantly, they will be put to good use. I look forward to sending you my students' thank you notes and pictures in the fall. Thank you again for your generousity and have a great summer.
I would like to thank you so much for funding my book project. This is going to mean so much to my students. Most of them absolutely love reading and will cherish these books.
Also, thank for funding some instructional books for me. They will help more than you will ever know!
I would like to say thank you on behalf of my first grade students for your generous donation to help purchase a digital camera and memory card for our classroom. I am always trying to provide many different print-rich materials in my classroom to promote reading & writing to my students. Our new digital camera will be used to take pictures of events happening in our school as well as children engaging in various activities. Not only will the portfolios be enhanced, but the camera will offer an additional opportunity for developing writing skills when they write sentences and captions for their pictures. A picture can capture those moments when I wish that I could show the world how great the children performed, or to show off what a wonderful creation they made when working together as a team. Your thoughtful gifts and support will enable my students to find an interest and excitement in writing to become avid writers”
I scoured all of the office supply stores for bargain crayons. I asked my neighborhood kids to accompany me to the store when you could purchase only 10 plastic folders and I needed 30. I gave them each their money and sent them ahead of me in line. Back to School fever had me in its clutches once again. One warm August night as I was creating my "welcome to my classroom letter," I could wait no more, and so I checked on the grant status. Oh No! It wasn't fully funded!
My first day with a new Kindergarten class was September 11th. I am immediately in love with them. It happens every year! I prepared my classroom with care to welcome them and to help them want to be in school.
This morning I opened my DonorsChoose.org site to complete any surveys or other fulfillments I might have. When I saw that my grant had been completely funded I was transported to the time my grandmother bought me a brand new sled. The feeling was tremendous! I am so grateful that generous people want to help me teach and value my students as much as I do.
Thank you so much for this thoughtful gift. I feel a sense of hope with this gift. It is the same surge of hope that I get every September.
I sincerely want to thank you for funding this project. Many students will benefit from your financial help. This will put "educational tools" immediately in their hands to use throughout the course of their day. You have helped to do more than just "even" the playing field. You have given them a fighting chance.
Thank you so much for support in funding cd jewel cases, to be used in conjunction with technology-based endeavors in our classroom. Through your generosity, each child will be able to take home a DVD project in a plastic jewel case showcasing audio/video teleconferencing curriculum-based extensions in our classroom. Not only will this be a fantastic keepsake for the children, it will also serve as a wonderful means of keeping families connected to classroom activities.
The children and families will be thinking of you each time they view these take-home projects.
I was extremely excited to learn that you have found my classroom project worthy of your consideration and most importantly, of your resources. I've been working hard to build within my special education students a desire to learn and that starts with learning to read.
The students and I look forward to a time when they comfortably sit back and relax on a warm carpeted spot on our typically cold floor and choose a book on their level to read during the day.
Independent reading time is a reward for the students who have finished their academic assignments early. We also have a designated silent sustained reading session right after lunch that helps my students refocus and calm down while they explore the world through their books.
With your generosity this cold and unwelcoming corner of my classroom will be made more accessible and inviting to all my students, no matter their difficulties. Thank you for providing us this opportunity to reach for the stars as we continue in our endeavor to grow leaps and bounds in our independent reading levels”
With gratitude,
Ms. Radice
