  • Scope It Out!

    Funded Nov 20, 2007

This request was based on the pleas from my students to be able to have ready access to a "real" microscope. I let them know that this was a possibility and they have been sitting on pins and needles, hoping that their wish would be fulfilled. This will truly be a wonderful bit of news to share at the holidays. You can rest assured that the yelling and cheering that I'm sure will arise when they are told about the generous gift will be genuine! Thank you so much for opening doors into these wonderful students' minds. I believe the possibilities are endless and the journey will be rewarding for us all!

  • The Human Body: Learning by Heart!

    Funded Nov 3, 2007

Thank you so much for funding our human body activities! I know that my students will be excited to make their studies personal by listening to their own hearts and checking their own blood pressure. It means a lot to teachers such as myself that there are people and companies out there willing to share what they have to improve student success. Again, thank you so much - I can't wait to get started with these materials! Sincerely,

    Casey ”

  • Putting the "Why?" in Science

    Funded Oct 30, 2007

Oh my gosh! I am so excited that this was my first proposal on DonorsChoose and it was funded so quickly! The timing of this couldn't be any better, as we are getting into studying about water (the hydrosphere) and the materials are just what we need to do our experiments. It will be so nice to use "real" lab equipment with my students in class. I can't say thank you enough”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rosa

  • Hidden Worlds- Up Close and Personal

    Funded Oct 24, 2007

The timing of your donation is incredible. We are starting a month and a half microbiology unit this week. Students are taking samples around San Francisco and analyzing the microorganisms they find to inform the public in an exhibition on December 4th.

The teaching scope will specifically allow students an incredible aid to teach each other as well as the public. This is in addition of course to all the ways I outlined in my proposal. Thank you so much. It truly will make a difference in what happens in my classroom.

    Sincerely,

    KC ”

  • We Have to See it, to Believe it!

    Funded Oct 18, 2007

You have given an invaluable gift to the students at Roberto Clemente. They can now learn visually through the amazing science-related content on the internet, and see science that otherwise, would not be available to them!

They will now have the ability to connect to vast amounts of information and taking notes can be interactive and exciting.

I cannot wait to show my students our new learning tool and I cannot thank you enough for helping my students and their futures.

    Sincerely-

    Ms. D

  • Genetic Research For Immigrants

    Funded Oct 15, 2007

I was thrilled to see that our proposal to work with genetics materials had been funded with your generous support. Thank you for helping to improve the science learning our school! Our kids are wonderful: recent immigrants, many of them economic or political refugees, struggling to find a new life here in the States. Our philosophy is that hands-on learning is the best way to bridge the educational, cultural and linguistic gaps that are so evident in these diverse classrooms. The lab equipment you have provided will do wonders to bring a very abstract but important set of concepts into a very tangible focus. Thank you so very, very much”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Finney
