Children get left behind in this country all the time. Teachers, particularly in poorer areas, have a hard time getting the resources that they need.
This year, I've picked four science proposals submitted by teachers working at high-poverty level schools in the Bronx. I'm hoping we'll be able to fully fund all four. If we surpass the goal (or look likely to), I'll add some more projects from the same area.
Thank you so much!! I've been hoping for this opportunity - there are some incredibly talented kids here and this will help them immensely. Learning how people are put together will make a huge difference when they start figure drawings. These students have very few resources and having a life-size skeleton will make them feel important (which they are!). The science teachers are also excited and we're planning an interdisciplinary unit. Even the physical education teacher is getting involved to explain how muscles work! I can't tell you how thrilled and grateful I am. I can't wait to start - since the skeleton is articulated we'll begin with modified gesture drawing. This project will lead in to figure drawing and an eventual project where they draw each other. I'm sure the results will be spectacular because they'll have a genuine understanding of how their bodies are built”
Thank you so much for the dental care kit and resources for my kindergarten class! Being from the South Bronx, these children need all the help they can get. The dental care resources will make learning about dental care fun and meaningful for them. I really appreciate this donation and I'm very excited to teach my students about dental care”
Thank you very much for most awesome generosity. You are playing an important role in helping me to teach my students how to be organized. This is a very important skill to learn in order to be an efficient and successful student. Although my students are only in second grade, they are definitely ready to learn how to use a binder to organize their learning materials. I want you to know that I am very thankful and very excited about the donation that you have made to me and my students”
Thank you very much for funding my proposal. I can't wait to start using my copier, because we will now have copies in a timely manner! My students will be so excited to have it in our classroom! In my school we share resources, so my colleagues will be delighted to have it as well”
Thank you so much for your generosity. Some of my students are special education students and they need a variety of hands-on activities in order to help them learn and to stay engaged in their learning. I am so eager to get our donation and can not wait to use them. They love learning new letters and will be able to use the letter stampers to review the letters they have learned and to begin to create words. Thank you again very much!”
Thank you so much for your very kind and generous gift! You have no idea how much it will mean for my kindergarteners to have a grand supply of markers and crayons. Their imaginations will fly as they learn to write, draw, and create. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom! Not only will this help my students, but all the special education classes (3 other classes, grades K through 5) will now be able to use the computer resources. Having an ample supply of printer paper makes it possible for the children to really use the computer as they'd like (rather than me limiting them). It also lets the special education teachers have the freedom to make targeted worksheets and assignments for all the students' needs. I'm so grateful for your help, and this resource will be used by many, many enthusiastic students. You're the best!
Thank you so much for the generous and thoughtful gift. My students and I are so excited to receive the new materials for our classroom. They will benefit our writing center, art center, and overall classroom environment. We are starting to learn new words and the story paper is going to come in handy when we do our journal writing. Thanks again for the new materials. Sincerely, Colleen ”
How can I thank you enough for your generous gift? What you did was extremely kind and charitable. I cannot tell you how many times I ran out of chart paper and had to improvise one way or another. Thanks to you, this is no longer going to be an issue for a long time! Whenever it is put to use, I will always keep in mind your wonderful and kind spirit. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.
Thank you so much for your donation of The Little Engine that Could, and Good Night Moon books to my students! This gift will allow these special needs preschoolers to reinforce what they learn here at school in their home environment. Since we read the book everyday in class, this opportunity to "read" it at home to their parents will extend their learning in a wonderful way. This will also expand the family's at-home library of age-appropriate books. Thank you so much for supporting special needs preschoolers in such a generous way”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Culbertson
