I want to live in a world where kids are engaged and excited by what happens in school, and I bet you do, too. Let's make it happen!
  • Beakers, Flasks, and Graduated Cylinders

    Funded Nov 20, 2007

Thank you so much for funding "Beakers, Flasks, and Cylinders." These materials are so instrumental in any high school laboratory. The new glassware will help us to replace our inventory that is damaged. The plastic beaker sets have been needed for so long to help our junior high students have more experiences. These are recommended for the younger grades and we did not have any.

I will hopefully get a good picture of the students popping some popcorn in a beaker with and aluminum lid. However I will use some of the older beakers to do this because getting the baked on oil off the beakers is part of the reason we need to restock. The popcorn is then used to check out how well it functions as a packing material.

Thank you so much for helping out the students at our school. It's just like Christmas in the school when the boxes from DonorsChoose are brought into the classroom.

    Sincerely,

    Mary B

  • DNA Necklaces - Cool!!!

    Funded Nov 20, 2007

Thank you so much for your kind donation of DNA Necklace Kits for my classroom. The timing is absolutely perfect as we are just beginning our unit on Heredity, Genetics, and Human Anatomy. This activity will add such an exciting, relative dimension to the unit for the students. I can hardly wait to see their wonder and pride as they extract their own DNA.

Thanks for providing this opportunity for my students”

  • Starfish View of the Sea

    Funded Oct 30, 2007

Wow! Its like an early birthday present! Thank you ever so much for granting my wish! The students really enjoy having their hands on all things that are real! As I try to teach my students more about oceans and how we are all interconnected, examine a starfish will give them an up close and personal experience. Hands on activities also make learning more real to the student and keep them motivated. Thank you very much!

  • Single Displacement Chemical Reaction

    Funded Oct 30, 2007

Thank you very much for your donation. All five of my chemistry classes (150 students)will perform this experiment in January when we study mole ratios (before our periodic assessment.) Each group will consist of only two students. This small pairing of students gets everyone involved in the experiment for hands-on participation. Again, thank you so much for this equipment”

  • Thinking Like Scientists!

    Funded Oct 23, 2007

Thank you so much! With these supplies, I'll be able to have an alive science center in the classroom all the time! Additionally, I'll be able to implement curriculum that requires these tools.

Scientists need beakers, balances, and weights to learn about measurement and think of the world around them in scientific terms. Thanks to your generosity; this year we will be thinking like scientists!

    Most Sincerely,

    Beck”

  • Mission to Mars!

    Funded Oct 23, 2007

Hello! Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am so excited to be able to tell my students in class tomorrow that we are going to do one of the Challenger missions at Chabot Space and Science Center. They have heard from my students last year that the trip is amazing and have been hoping to be able to go themselves. It is an amazing museum to take students, and I promise that they will learn so much and have an amazing time while learning. Thanks again”
