Dancing in the Classroom

I can't tell you how much Chavez Elementary appreciates your support. Thank you- from the bottom of my heart- for supporting my proposal called "Bringing the Arts to the Back of the Yards." I know that the students of Chavez are going to benefit greatly from this visit by Missoula Children's Theatre. The students really need to experience what it's like to be in a slick, fully functional production. When they know that it's done professionally, it empowers their performances and their self-esteem as well. These kids most likely never had an opportunity like this, and I hope that his gives them strength to continue a life in the arts. This is going to be a great year for Chavez, and our students are going to have a great opportunity to shine.

I would like to thank you for the materials that you donated to the students and their upcoming show. When I was informed that my proposal was funded it made me so happy knowing that our show which students have been working on will only turn out better than imagined due to your generosity and kindness.

I am using the materials for the students costumes and background for our show. We will be decorating hats and shirts with patriotic colors. We are doing a presentation on the American Revolution and patriotic songs. Your kind gesture will allow the students to know in America there are people who care about them and it is a wonderful place to live. This will allow the students to feel pride in their show, school, and country.

Thank you so much for funding our grant called "Dance Around the World." I have found throughout my years of teaching that dancing is one of the favorite activities for third graders. The multicultural unit that I teach incorporates research, writing, technology, art, music and dance, but during the Family Night event, it is the music and dance that bring out the most smiles of both the students and their parents. The musical instruments that you funded will add so much to the children's dancing and rhythm activities. My class next year will love having them in the classroom on a daily basis as well as for the special performances we do.
