  • LETS GO FLY A KITE!!!

    Funded Dec 16, 2006

Our Geometry class is so excited to have the opportunity to do this Kite Building Project. I know the best way to spark a student's interest is with hands on experiences and this project is exactly that. When I told the students we were funded for this project there was a big cheer from the class. There will be many educational topics covered while learning to build the kites. I am looking forward to engaging their minds and creativity, and they are going to have lots of fun”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. K.

  • A Closer Look At DNA!

    Funded Sep 29, 2006

    Dear Donor,

Thank you so much for your donation! Our students will love the hands-on experience that will be available to them due to your donation! DNA is such a hard topic to teach to students. With the kit that you funded, the students should gain more understanding than I could have provided alone. Thanks again!

    Sincerely,

    Jenny ”

  • Exploring Plant & Animal Cells

    Funded Sep 11, 2006

I want to be the first to sincerely thank you for your generous gift. Your kind act will impact the lives of my students in a profound and meaningful way. The material will give me the opportunity to present the topic of cell structure in an interesting and engaging manner. My students love to explore science through inquiry-based activities because it enables them to actively participate in their education. Cell Structure is an extremely important and difficult topic in science. The students will use the materials to investigate cell structure and function. I am extremely excited about the donation because my students will have an authentic hands-on and minds-on experience in science. My school lacks science equipment and resources and many of my students have had little to no experience in investigatory science. I can only begin to thank you for your selfless contribution to the students”

  • The Butterfly Flight

    Funded Aug 24, 2006

Thank you so much for the opportunities for my class to watch butterflies evolve before their eyes. Today is the first day of school and I have 22 bright faces. They are eager to learn and now I have a wonderful unit to present to them. In the spring, the students will experience the changes in the world around them as the trees come to life with new foliage and flowers bloom. We will watch with anticipation the metamorphosis of our eggs to butterflies. I will enjoy sending you feedback and pictures in late April or early May as our project progresses. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity for my first grade students.

    Thank you,

  • DNA And Genetics Labs

    Funded Aug 24, 2006

Thank you very much for the DNA and genetic kits. Working in Los Angeles has brought some difficulty. There are not many tools that we can use in the middle school that keep projects hands-on and keep the student engaged and stay with in the standards of the subject matter. My administrator could not justify this purchase. I think he had no idea what really came out of doing these labs. Again I want to thank you. I will enjoy teaching this subject area with these new materials.

  • Art & Science ? What do they have in Common?

    Funded Jul 17, 2006

I cannot thank you enough for participating in the DonorsChoose program. I am so excited to be able to incorporate art, literacy and science in my classroom with your generous donation. I am going to have students keep their science lab journals with diagrams and drawings of activities during class in the Bare Books so that they can refer to the work all semester long. In addition, they will use these items to help with their science fair projects. You have allowed my students to see how wonderful incorporating subjects can become.

    Sincerely,

    Leann ”

    Funded Jul 11, 2006

I would like to thank you for this opportunity. It will be a great asset to our science lab. I will be sending feedback after the garden is set up. I plan to utilize this in-class garden in the best ways that I can, seeing as it is in East New York. I know my students will enjoy it.

  • Engaging Children In Science 2!!!

    Funded Jul 1, 2006

I couldn't believe it when I got my e-mail.... My husband said the neighbors could hear me yelling. Thank you so very much for funding our proposal, "Engaging Children in Science 2". I can't wait to get back to school in late August and begin exciting our students with the new materials you bought our classroom. They will bring so much interest and learning to their little minds. I will be just as excited as they are. Science is so much fun and there is so much to learn. Thank you so much for helping our special children.
