Poegles.com is launching its first philanthropic effort by joining forces with Mustaches for Kids and DonorsChoose.org to help bring poetry to students in needy classrooms. Our Mustaches will benefit public school students through DonorsChoose.org, a totally sweet not-for-profit web site that turns teachers into social entrepreneurs by giving them a venue to submit project proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn. One hundred percent of the donated amount goes to the classroom, which makes DonorsChoose.org a way for all of us to establish a direct and meaningful connection with our recipients. With a big push from NYC, combined with the efforts of Growers in cities such as San Francisco, Seattle, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Houston, we are hoping to raise $1,000,000 for public school kids across the country. We know what you're thinking: "Mustache, you crazy!" Well, maybe we are. But we also believe in the power and sweetness of the 'stache.

I cannot begin to thank you for your generous donation. Because of you, my students will be able to enjoy such classics as, "Charlotte's Web" and the classic poetry of Shel Silverstein. These books accompanied by their cds will help to meet the needs of my students. As they listen to the books, they can read along with them and will eventually be able to read them for themselves.
At the completion of a book or poem, students can then create a project relating to the book using the construction paper that you generously donated.
Thank you again for such a wonderful gift. Every time we use these materials we will think of you and your generosity.”
I am a 7th grade social studies teacher in New York City. For a long time we did not the technological advantages for everyone in the classroom to learn and be interactive with their education. Now we can all equally participate in the classroom learning, sharing, and the displaying of our work (through presentations and much more). As a Social Studies classroom we have the unique opportunity to view political debates, documentaries, use slide shows, interactive maps, listen to sound clips, and much more. Having an LCD projector in our classroom will not only make our Social Studies class more engaging, interactive, and help to hook those students who are visual learners, but will also allow students more creativity when thinking about our classroom and different project opportunities. Once again, I cannot thank you enough for helping us! Your help means the world to us!! Without donors like you, students across the country (and specifically my 120 students) would be forced to go without.
I am absolutely thrilled that this project has been funded! My students are just now working on a literary analysis of Hamlet, and many are saying that they "liked Romeo and Juliet better"--as if these were the only two plays he wrote! I can't wait to expose them to a Shakespearean comedy. I know they're going to be so excited by Bottom and the rude mechanicals, among other things. Now, hopefully, they'll stop asking questions like, "Why do all the characters die in Shakespeare's plays?" Thank you again, a million times over”
Thank you for your very generous donation! I am extremely excited to start these projects with my students. I know they will appreciate the materials. They always enjoy working on creative and engaging activities. Thank you for making a difference in my classroom”
With gratitude,

Thank you so much for your donation to my project. It is very heartening to me that you would support my students in their efforts to become fluent readers. Poetry is a great tool, and it has the power to add beautiful language to our lives. I want to share that with them, and your gift has given me that opportunity. Now they will be able to watch themselves perform poetry, and see themselves as readers. That will encourage them to work harder, and become stronger readers. What could be better motivation than that? Again, thank you for your generous donation. I can't wait to get started”
I am walking on air! Thank you, thank you, thank you! When I opened my email and discovered that the poetry books for my class had been fully funded I cried. It is so beautiful that in this time of economic uncertainty, there are people who are more interested in reaching out to children, than focusing on the ups and downs of the Dow Jones. I teach the greatest, most wonderful children in the world. They deserve so much. And who knows, one of them just might grow-up to be President someday!
Thank you for caring. These books will make a difference in my students' lives”
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation that you made for my classroom. Thanks to you, you give the opportunity for my classroom children to engage and enrich their learning by reading. Thanks to you I will be able to do my lessons in the classroom and provide the right resources needed in order to provide a productive learning environment. I thank you once again and hope you have a wonderful holiday for you and your loved ones.
Thank you so much for your generous donation. The poetry books and student journals that you helped to fund for my classroom will truly help change my students' view of poetry. They will also help my students become more fluent readers and increase their vocabulary. This gift means more to my students and me than you will ever know. Thank you again for your kindness.
Words do not express my absolute surprise and gratitude I feel for your generous donation to the students of my classroom. These books are so essential to the classroom as they add momentum and a much needed sense of excitement to the students' reading lives. In a ninth grade classroom, it seems as if this is the year when they decide whether they're readers or non-readers, whether they will give the realm of literature a chance, or whether they will abandon it, only to pick up a book in the event that they absolutely must. The more books that are available to them, the greater the chance that they will grasp onto a relevant author and discover possibilities in literature that they didn't know existed. I cannot WAIT to walk into the classroom tomorrow and let my students know about the wonderful person who cared enough to donate their time and money so that not only could these students read them, but also, so that hundreds and hundreds of other students who will walk in and out of my classroom in the years to come will also be able to read them. Thank you so much”

I am pleased and thrilled that you have selected my proposal, "Differentiated Texts for Differentiated Learning" to fund. The "Best for Boys" and "Best for Girls" book sets will be a marvelous resource for my classroom and the sets will be instrumental in promoting reading independence and analysis among my students. The potential for critical thinking and higher-level synthesis is greatly increased when the students work together to examine plots and discuss books. Not to mention, how exciting it will be for the students to have brand new books to engage their interest! The gender specific nature of the sets means that both the girls and boys will have an opportunity to find subject matter that will be most appealing for them.
Finally, the half-class set of "The Road Not Taken" poetry books will be a marvelous opportunity for the students to draw conclusions and make inferences while looking at figurative language elements, mood, theme, and poet's use of language and intent. The educational value of these almost 80 books is tremendous. Your decision to fund these materials will make a meaningful difference to my students. Again, I thank you for choosing my proposal and for your assistance in helping my students shape a positive future by becoming discerning and logical reasoners. Your help is greatly appreciated, and your gift of books will be well used and continue to make a difference, now and in years to come”
With gratitude,
Ms. O.
