• Something Fishy This Way Comes

    Funded Dec 5, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation. The students were so excited when I told them about the class pets that we would be getting. Their excitement grew as we learned about them and took care of them throughout the year.

The fish tank is so beautiful. The students were in a rotation for the feeding of them. In addition to learning about them, it added a calm to the classroom. We have raised ladybugs and learned what they eat. The class was intrigued about the life cycle of the butterfly and the frog. We watched them grow and they wrote about the process.

The students' favorite pets were the lizards. We received seven anoles! The students looked forward to seeing them each day and would rush into the classroom to see how they were doing. The lizards loved their habitat so much that they loved each other! Quite a hot topic for learning about life cycles.

These 2nd and 3rd graders have had some life science experiences that they will carry with them the rest of their lives. The pictures they took are living proof.

Thank you for making this project possible!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Chemistry In Need of Chemicals

    Funded Oct 20, 2011

My students were excited opening the boxes on the day they arrived. Without even knowing what the chemicals were for, my students were interested in guessing their purpose. The chemicals have been useful during this last and current unit, labs always make Chemistry and any other science fun. Our chemical safe in no longer empty since we have filled it in with new supplies.

I look forward to using the chemicals for future labs and increasing the inquiry level in my lesson. Thank you from my students and I for the valuable donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Luna

  • Please Send us to the Children's Science Museum!

    Funded Oct 27, 2011

I want to thank you for making our field trip a reality. Your donation will help our second grade students understand science and the world around them. It will also help me show them how science is everywhere around them and how can make a scientific impact in their world.

I deeply appreciate your kind support. Without you, we wouldn't have been able to visit the Children's Science Museum and the kids wouldn't have benefited from a direct experience with genuine artifacts. Thank you for making a difference in the classroom! Thank you for being Agents of Change!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kennedy

  • Electricity in the Hands of Kids

    Funded Dec 22, 2011

Thank you so much for your generosity. Because of you I was able to receive Electricity Kits for my classroom. When I opened these and allowed the children to explore the level of excitement in the classroom was obvious.

Electricity is such an abstract concept and having hands on materials just makes the learning that much easier. Having enough materials so that every child has multiple opportunities to explore and create is the ideal situation, and because of you this is now able to happen.

My students will continue to explore electricity and will begin to grasp a better understanding of how electricity works, making connections as they use the materials. As a teacher it is so rewarding to see those light bulbs turn on...both figuratively and in reality. Again, thank you so much”

  • Microscopes For Mighty Minds

    Funded Oct 7, 2011

I want to take this time to thank you for your generosity and interest towards my students. The economic downturn that many of us face, has become more and more prevalent in out public schools as Dance and Music programs get cut and now it is getting harder to procure even basic laboratory supplies such as the microscopes that you have donated. If you could only see the excitement that I see in my students as they use these microscopes to explore tiny worlds and organisms. Today's microscope may lead to tomorrow's scientist! Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hernandez

  • Looking At The Micro World Around Us

    Funded Oct 27, 2011

I can not even begin to tell you how much i appreciate your donation to my project. This project was a huge success, thanks to your help. Upon getting the materials, I was so eager to show off this amazing view of the microscopic world around us to my students. My students were stunned. Many of them had never seen a microscope, let alone use one. The slides that were provided helped utilize this important tool and provided an amazing experience that I am sure they will never forget. These slides proved to be a valuable tool and captivated the interest of my students. I originally planned on only using the slides for two days, but I found that the students craved more time to experience these slides and I had to alter my plans and extend the slides to be included in an entire week of lessons.

Once again, I want to extend my thanks and my highest gratitude for your donation. I can not even begin to fully express how I feel and the excitement and joy you brought to my students by providing the supplies for this valuable learning experience. Thank you again!”

  • Investigate Life Through The Cell

    Funded Oct 7, 2011

Thank you for investing in my classroom project. My students were very engaged, curious and amazed by how they could see what they are made of. My students learned first-hand about the parts of the cell and how the cell functions.

By investing in this project; it gave my students who had never used a microscope the opportunity to explore and see what the naked eye can not. My students were talking amongst themselves about how they went home and taught their families about the cell. Each day the students wanted to do more labs; that was music to my ears.

My students now see the importance of science and how they were scientist themselves by investigating the cell. This project used all their multiple intelligences. My students now look at science with a new set of eyes.”

    Ms. Dennis

  • iPads Inspire Interaction & A Magic Mathematical Reaction 2!

    Funded Oct 25, 2011

Happy Holidays! I am writing to give you an update on the fantastic iPad2 that you purchased for my students. We have been using it since the day it arrived!

Technology is amazing, but the iPad2 is almost too good to be true. Thankfully, it is now a reality because of your generosity and willingness to support public education. I can honestly say that all of my students love using the iPad2 to do schoolwork, review their math facts, or work on new projects! It seems that we find a new use for it every day. Quite often, it is the students who are suggesting new uses or ways to integrate it into our academic work! This kind of engagement creates increased ownership, pride, and often, greater success in a student's education.

The kids are so focused and engaged in what they are doing. The pictures don't do the device justice. It is so easy to use and it is a delight for both students and teachers alike! Even in places like a hallway or a stairwell, the iPad2 can become an interactive whiteboard, an encyclopedia, a dictionary, a flashcard generator, presentation creator, a virtual library, dazzling math manipulatives, and the list goes on and on.

Students have been learning their math facts, typing essays, using Google Earth, and practicing their reading skills. For my English Language Learners it has been invaluable. Our county has access to so many rich and engaging programs that help support English language acquisition. My students can use part of their language arts time to work on their letter sounds, learn the alphabet, and sharpen their listening comprehension. We don't have to make a special trip to the crowded computer lab - all because of you! The increased access you have provided really does bridge the gap known as the Digital Divide!

Your collective generosity and support is making a tangible difference in the lives of my students! I cannot thank you enough for all of your kind words and financial support. This is a grassroots effort and you are the water that is helping to nurture our young sprouts!

I hope this letter brings some cheer and pride to you. Thank you again for helping me and enriching the lives of my students! Happy Holidays!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tosiello

  • iListen, iRead, iLearn!

    Funded Nov 25, 2011

Wow! The worlds you have opened to my students.

We received our iPad a few days ago and already they are teaching me things that they can do on it! My students are able to enjoy using technology of the future while reinforcing their learning in literacy and math workstations. There are so many possibilities with this tool and you are the ones to thank!!

I love to see my students' eyes light up each time they are able to use the iPad, I wish you could see it! We have already uploaded all of our sight words, math facts, and tracing apps to help build the skills we need at the moment, but they will change as we grow!

Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stanford
