  • Rock Stars

    Funded Oct 22, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Teaching an earth science unit can be really challenging, however, your donation of the rock, mineral and fossil sets made it much more meaningful for the students in my class. In the past I would have to rely on photographs of different rocks and minerals, but this time the students were able to actually hold and observe samples with their very own hands! The students were very excited!

My students were able to observe different types of rocks and minerals and record observations about their characteristics. They recorded observations that described the size, shape, color, texture and any patterns that were found on the samples. They also used identification keys to find the name of their rock and minerals. The students were very much engaged throughout the entire experience.

My student and I are very thankful and appreciate this wonderful donation to our class. You have enriched our learning experiences greatly. You rock!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marson

  • Keep on ROCKing In the Free World!

    Funded Oct 10, 2011

I sincerely and kindly thank you for your donation to our classroom. With these rocks and minerals, we have been able to finally update our rock collection. Over the years, the samples had grown small in size and small in number. And now, we have a wonderful new collection!

Not only were the students excited to see new rocks and minerals that they had not seen before, but all of these rocks and minerals appear on the Earth Science Reference Tables, so as these students start to prepare for their Regents exam in June, we will be able to use these samples again to prepare.

I thank you again for your donation to our classroom. I appreciate it, and my students appreciate it even more!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wuebber

  • Rock Out: Learning About Rocks, Minerals and Geology

    Funded Oct 6, 2011

Thank you for the generous donation that you made to our classroom. The geology books and rock samples are a needed addition to our classroom materials. My students have used them regularly as part of our study of landforms and geology. The materials have provided students with hands-on experiences and background knowledge that has aided in their understanding of Earth Sciences.

Over the past few years, our school has faced numerous financial cuts, which has impacted my ability to purchase materials needed for exemplary instruction. Your generosity and commitment to education has enabled me to provide students with learning experiences they may not have had otherwise. Thank you for your support and dedication to student achievement.

Donors like you are creating a foundation for the future scientists of America.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy

  • Was That an Earthquake? What Does It Mean?

    Funded Nov 28, 2011

Thank you so much for making an impact on the lives of my urban students! The 6th graders that I teach are so inquisitive and interested in learning; this funded project helps us to really get our hands on learning and learn so much! My students were very excited to use the earthquake table, watch the sea-floor demonstration, and see what a seismograph really looks like. These tools are invaluable in their learning and we have you to thank!

Our students deserve every chance they can get to have access to resources that will help them further their education and unfortunately, working in a school that is currently at a deficit means that any extra supplies for the classroom must come out of teacher's pockets. Donor's Choose is so amazing to get wonderful people like you in touch with students who have an incredible potential to excel in science.

Science education should be tactile and hands-on. Your donation has made this a reality for 130 students this year alone, with even more in the future.

Thank you again for your kindness; my students and I are incredibly grateful to you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. L.

  • Science Rocks!

    Funded Oct 15, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to Science Rocks! The lab supplies are being used to teach a rigorous rock and mineral unit. My students are thrilled with the daily experiments and are thriving on the advanced curriculum. The safety glasses are used over and over for not only this unit, but also for other science units. The tweezers have come in handy repeatedly as we investigate. I would not of been able to teach this unit without your help. Your gift means so much to the elementary students and will encourage them to study science for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dye

  • Exciting Earth Science

    Funded Oct 25, 2011

Wow! There are not enough words to express the joy that my student's experienced using the models that you purchased for our classroom. The students were able to run their fingers over the mountain ranges, touch the inside of the volcano, compare and contrast a folded mountain range and a wetland area. My students were able to hold and feel the earth in a way that was not possible before your donations.

My ELL students were able to put into words what the different landforms looked like and what they saw when holding the model. These students did not like science before using your models. I heard one of them tell a friend that they wanted to be the scientist who found out what should be on the models. The models were very user friendly and accessible for all students.

Thank you for all you do for students. Thank you for choosing to support our classroom through your generous donation. WE LOVE our donors and can't thank you enough. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daly

  • Mitosis in Motion: Learning with Stop Motion Animation

    Funded Nov 15, 2011

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. I am encouraged and touched that so many people are concerned about the education of children.

The cameras you have helped to purchase will enable my students to visualize difficult to grasp concepts and record evidence. Research into learning and brain development tells us that vision trumps all other senses. By using photography my biology students will be able to explore and demonstrate their understanding of processes such as mitosis and meiosis. My earth science students will use them to document observations leading to a deeper understanding of earth processes. By funding this project you have helped me to provide my students with an enriching and engaging educational experience.

Thank you again. I can't wait to make use of these new materials.

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Wysock

  • Amazing Science for Amazing Kids!

    Funded Nov 18, 2011

Thank you so much to all of the donors who made this project possible (and the timing was perfect)! When learning about fossils and the geological history of the Earth, we usually have to read books or watch movies. Having a hands on learning lab will give my students the opportunity to see and touch fossils, which improves the brain's ability to remember. Remembering is the true definition of learning! I can't thank you enough for valuing education in such a positive and lasting way!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lantinga
