Thank you for the headphones for my classroom!!! My students were able to hear, without
interference from the people around them!!! We can now watch videos, listen to audio files, and record ourselves speaking French with no problem!!! Before everyone was listening at the same time and there was just chaos and confusion in my classroom. Now I can tell that they are actually listening and learning French!!! Thank you for caring about my students and thank you for caring about me.Thank you sooooo much!!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Cannon
This classroom project was brought to life by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and 13 other donors.
I want to let you all know how much the students and I have enjoyed the new drawing books. They are getting used daily in our art classroom. We have a book shelf which we refer to as "the I'm Done Center" and the books you all donated are used whenever a student finishes an assignment and has extra time to draw. I absolutely love seeing my students using the books. They truly appreciate every opportunity to work with the new materials. These books are helping my special needs students develop art skills and build confidence in working independently. Thank you for making this investment in my students' art education!”
Thank you so much for the resources that you have helped provide to my classroom. We have already begun to use the Flip cameras to document some of our performances and public speaking projects-- and this is just a scratch in the surface of what we will be able to do with these powerful tools.
It was really an amazing experience to see the range of people who came together to support Arts Education in a core classroom. I firmly believe that students can use creativity-- especially through experimentation with digital media-- to meet and surpass the standards I need to meet in my English classroom.
Thanks again for your continued support of the education of our children”
Thank you so much for your generosity in making this project happen! My students and I have had a lot of fun incorporating the books into our music lessons. As you read in the proposal, most of the books are connected to song-games that we have played. I love seeing the students' responses when I show them there is a book for the song and they are always eager to explore the similarities and differences between our version and the book's version. They sing along when it makes sense, and they've opened up to the idea that our songs are stories. I wish you could see their imaginations at work!
The books have also been a wonderful resource in helping me reach some of the students who are less calm and students with autism. They get so excited every time I walk to the book shelf and almost instantly sit down and engage in the lesson. Many of my students with autism are non-verbal and communicate using symbols. The illustrations in these books have really helped build meaning for some of the students.
I feel like I've just touched the tip of the iceberg for the many ways these books will enhance our music program and am so grateful for wonderful people like you! Hopefully the few photos will give you a sense of the fun we have playing the song-games and then reading the books. Thank you for supporting public education and caring about our children!!”
I have to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping out my students. The small additions to my classroom made all the difference in my ability to serve all 150 budding artists! It was previously impossible to keep track of everyone's individual paintings, collages, etc. but now our storing process is much more streamlined. Each and every student knows now where to go to place there work and nothing is lost between work days. These small changes made to the routine of our art class directly impacts their ability to take advantage of the short time they have with me. The quality of their work has improved dramatically and I am certain it's because of the added resources giving our whole operation a bit more structure. Consequently, students take art-making more serious when they have everything they need! Thanks again.”
I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your generosity. The Roland keyboard amp that was donated to us has been able to help our ensembles reach their full potential. We have a bassist and guitar player, and keyboard player in our jazz ensemble and they each can connect to a high quality speaker to be heard, thanks to the amps 4 independent inputs. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing group of students and this project has allowed me to expand upon their creativity. Thank you so much! ”
I don't know how to put into words the amount of gratitude I have for your generous donations. The air conditioner has changed the entire atmosphere of the art room! My students come to class attentive and ready to learn. It is amazing how something so simple can make such a huge difference. Thank you so much!!!
I want to express my sincere appreciation to you for donating to our project. The Memory Project inspires caring, global friendship, and a positive sense of self; it is incredibly rewarding to both the children receiving the portraits and my students. To make a connection with a person simply by looking into their eyes in a photograph reminds you that, despite being worlds away, you have the ability to brighten someones day.
Due to budget cuts in our city school district, it is not possible to purchase high quality art supplies for my classes. Thanks to your kind donations, we were able to use some of the best materials available to produce high-quality portraits for our group of 25 orphans from Thailand. We are positive that each child will love the gifts we have created to honor their self-identity.
Thank you for allowing my students this incredible opportunity. ”
We have been using the new Boomwackers in our classroom since they arrived. Thank you so much for helping us get these materials. The boomwackers are a fun percussive instrument that each student can play and create fun rhythms and very musical chords. Just today, the students used the boomwackers to create and identify major and minor chords. Ultimately, what makes these instruments so wonderful for the students is the ability to create original tunes and songs. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures that I will soon be uploading for you to view. What a difference you have made for our music program here at Peres Elementary School.”
Thank you so much for donating to iPod Listening Center. The students are ecstatic to use the iPod, books, and headphones. They are getting to hear their favorite stories over and over and think it is awesome to use an iPod. When it arrived in the mail and I presented it to all of them, they erupted into a loud cheer. One student said, "I have been begging for an iPod, now I get to use one everyday!"
Having this iPod has exposed my students to different genres of literature. The integration of technology in our classroom has been a great experience for them.
I cannot thank you enough for your support and donation! ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Katie
