Ker-Thunk, Ker-thunk...the most annoying sound to a teacher. That is the sound of my students rocking back and forth on broken chairs. Not to mention the copious amounts of duct tape used to keep the seats from pinching their little bottoms.
I am a second grade English Language Development teacher at a low performing, low income school in San Francisco. The students in my classroom represent every minority and majority group in our community. They are great kids who have to overcome many obstacles just to come to school.
Our school has the most amazing students and teachers. What we don't have is the funding or resources to purchase basic classroom needs. This is where you can help. My classroom desperately needs a new set of chairs for my students to sit in. With a new set of chairs my students will be able to focus on the task at hand, not on the distraction that a wobbly chair provides.
Here is your chance to change the experience my students have at school every day in a very real way. Please help provide new chairs for my classroom.
More than half of students from low‑income households
