By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student awareness as well as skills to improve their emotions and reactions. You will ultimately help them achieve their social/emotional and some of their behavior goals.
We are a speciality self contained classroom ranging in age from 14-22 with diverse family/home environments.
We will use the books as a library resource to check out during our shift work during the day. The majority of my students have difficulty communicating or engaging in conversation, the books and games will be used for us to practice conversation starters during our lunch shift we rotate working in the school concession stand. I’m planning to pull 1 or 2 students a few days a week to interact out with the general students. My students enjoy role play activities in the classroom so I believe this will be beneficial in a setting where they are comfortable.
My ultimate goals are for my students to be able to identify and hopefully control their emotions and use the strategies we practice such as breathing and asking for help. I want my students to be successful and safe as well as prepared to the best of their abilities to move on to the next stage in their lives after High School. Any and all help provided will be appreciated and used in my classroom for their benefit.
