This project stems from the goal of enhancing participation rates within our Success Strategies program. Currently, engagement levels are sub optimal, hindering our ability to achieve desired outcomes. By introducing these engaging rewards, we anticipate fostering a more inclusive and enthusiastic environment, ultimately driving greater participation in Success Strategies as well as other subjects.
The Soda stream, Nugget Ice Maker, and Snow Cone Machine Extrinsic will serve as powerful tools for motivating students to learn by providing recognition, incentivizing effort, offering immediate feedback, encouraging goal setting, increasing engagement, and fostering a growth mindset.
My class is a required remedial class based on student performance on the LEAP test. Being placed in this class forgoes their chance to participate in a chosen elective or high school credit electives. Oftentimes, students walk in already feeling defeated and lack the motivation to participate in class. The goal of this project is to reduce self deprecating behaviors and instill a growth mindset in order to increase participation to close learning gaps.
These incentives will create a dynamic learning environment that not only motivates students but also helps teachers manage classroom behavior and discipline by using positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement strategies.
