Kids who don't like reading simply have not discovered the right book yet. My classroom is filled with a diverse group of students who have a plethora of interests and curiosities. We need a classroom library that is stocked with a variety of books so that everyone can discover the joys of reading!
Our school is a Title I school(high poverty) and is located in a very rural community.
My students are active, eager learners and work hard to achieve their personal and academic goals. My students are interested in a variety of topics and are very curious about the world around them. They enjoy using technology and seeking out answers to their questions.
My Project
Having a large, varied classroom library is critical for beginning and nourishing my students' enjoyment of reading and learning. There are several books that I truly loved reading as a kid and I hope that my students discover their own list of favorite books this year!
For students to become stronger readers they have to keep reading, reading, reading! When they have choices of books they find interesting and fun they naturally want to continue reading.
For students to be successful contributors in the 21st century they must be fluent readers.
This project will help students find books that are intriguing and will foster their desire to continue reading and discovering new books. Please help a child to change his/her attitude towards reading and begin to enjoy the wonderful world of books.
