This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students would love to read and practice what they have learned in music class. They get to play patterns with the different percussion instruments and I am afraid that they are not able to fully utilize the musical skills they have learned because of the limited music books in the library.
My students are very inquisitive learners.
They love to sing, do movements and play instruments. My students do music on a quarterly basis and so they learn from rigorous standards throughout the music curriculum. They love to challenge themselves especially in performing musical notes in the form of patterns. They are determined to learn about all the components of music. Sometimes they get really sad when it is time to leave music. They will come to me and thank me for the music they have learned.
My students are very active so I find different activities for them to do throughout the different music blocks. Sometimes students use the room on a rotational basis where they play musical card games, sitting at the library corner or listening to different genres of music from the sound space.
My students are always looking forward to the new adventures in learning music education. I have a tempo activity where I incorporated the shark game they just love it!
My Project
With the added resources students will be able to use the books individually or in small groups to learn more about musical components such as notes, names, values, instruments and so on. students will also be able to build connections from instructional delivery to the books they will receive. All the students at this school love to read books; all kinds of books and with music related books these students will be able to enhance a new intelligent behavior in the world of music.
My project is important because I want students to learn the importance of learning about all the disciplines as this will help in the development of the whole child.
I am trained as an elementary and middle school teacher but I am teaching music because I was inspired by music in school. I went and bought books just to learn more music. I want my students to have that opportunity early in life so that they can gain a skill that is unique and filled with joy. Music for Kids that's what I will sing!
