Dragons, Cowdogs and Magic are waiting to be enjoyed by my students.
For most of my students, reading is just beginning to be fun.
They have transitioned from learning to read, to reading to learn. They LOVE it now and I need them to continue to experience new genres of books! A lot of them don't have books at home. My school and classroom are the only chances that some of them get to read new and fun books.
My Project
We will use these books to continue to meet in small reading groups. Students read the books based on the level of reader they are. Then they discuss the book as a group and complete comprehension activities. I love hearing the conversations that 8-9 year old children have about books.
We have many old and tattered books and some newer books with only one or two copies.
I need enough copies for groups. The students are so excited about reading and I want this momentum to keep building.
