A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Studies show that when children see themselves in books it helps with vital skills of learning to read and improving comprehension skills. The more children enjoy reading, and find meaning in books, they will come back to reading more and more.
"Books are packed with knowledge, they give you life lessons, they teach you about hardships, love, fear, and every little thing that is a part of life."
The Girls Survive series not only has a wide variety of cultures represented in the main characters, but also educates children on major historical events. By featuring a fictional female main character, girls in the class are also able to see themselves as a vital part to historical events.
By providing this series to my students, I hope to foster their love of reading, increase their knowledge of historical events, and to help them learn about leadership skills.
