This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students work very hard to achieve their academic goals in math and specially during district assessments. The green party is a celebration for the students who show growth regardless of their abilities. Students are recognized for their efforts in showing improvement and not by a standard. Motivation is important at the middle school ages. The treats and snacks (cookies, chips, drinks, and green pencil) will be awarded to the students during the Green Party Celebration. The students appreciate that teachers and administrators recognize their hard work and that we make special time to do so. This celebration will include 6th grade students.

This year the students were introduced to changes made by the State of Florida.

The new math benchmarks require students to step up and teachers to get creative with content. The Florida Math Benchmarks are a new tool used to provide students a wider look at the connection between mathematics and the real world.

As we continue to navigate through the school year, the students will learn the importance of math as it applies to their daily lives.
