This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
These TIME For Kids magazines are needed in my classroom to give my students a glimpse into the world outside of their neighborhood. TIME for Kids will help my students become more aware of what's happening worldwide. Reading these articles will open up my students to discussion and possibly worthwhile debates. As these students move toward middle and eventually high school, they need this exposure to become global students. Although these students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, there may be a Steve Jobs or Nelson Mandela among them. They just don't know it yet.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
