This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Do you have any more dog books?" EAGLE scholars love reading books about dogs. Clifford, Henry & Mudge, and The Puppy Place race off our shelves. We're in need of more dog books, including some for our higher-level readers.
EAGLE scholars attend a culturally and economically diverse Title I charter school located in the middle of a cotton field in Arizona.
We stress character education here, and the students take this to heart. They are exceptionally caring and kind to one another, and if students sense a bully, they work with the teachers to solve the issue. They feel free to express themselves in the caring environment they've helped create. They just collected over $1,500 for Pennies for Patients to help children with leukemia, and they sent over 40 packages to servicemen and women in Afghanistan on Veteran's Day. And these kids love to read! They roar through the books in our small, yet mighty, library. They are good, sweet children with endless potential.
My Project
I'm asking for books from popular series featuring dogs: Clifford, The Puppy Place, Puppy Mudge, Henry and Mudge, and the Gordon Korman series. These titles cover all of the reading levels of our students, from emergent to higher level. We are sorely lacking books for our younger readers, and I am always trying to expand this part of our collection. The challenge is they learn to read so soon here! I need to get more books to keep up with the demand! The more books these students have, the more they will read, and the better readers they will become. New books excite the students so much, and we can never have enough new books!
EAGLE scholars are amazing students and people, and they so deserve to get more new books to keep them excited about reading and learning.
Every time a student reads a book, they expand their life-view that much more. Some of the students were watching as I put this project together, and my, are they pumped up! "Are you getting new books?" Thanks for helping me inspire our students to read!
