My students need a good selection of math books on the primary level, K-2. These stories are building blocks to various lessons taught and model concepts assessed.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students enjoyed this quote; "If it were not for Thomas Edison, we would all be watching television in the dark." Your generosity may spark young imaginations.
I have been with the same kids for several years, looping through their primary years.
My students range in abilities and have a natural instinct to protect and help each other.
My class thrives on investigations and theme units. We are currently exchanging postcards with various classrooms across the country. When a postcard arrives, we celebrate by looking for their location on the map. We then read about their city and determine how many postcards remain on our list to receive. Fun Stuff!
My Project
I am requesting MathStart Books series 1,2,3. Literacy in Math is HUGE.
There are 10 Standards that are covered in these books. Five focus on Content: Number and Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis. The other five focus on Process: Problem Solving, Reasoning and Proof, Communication, Connections, and Representation. These standards are taught through this collection of books. My goal is to provide these resources for Math Centers. The MathStart books will allow for students to explore, work toward, and ultimately achieve these standards.
Stuart j. Murphy, author of MathStart says it best:
It is important not only to master the traditional basics, but also the "expanded basics" such as data analysis. Reasoning skills are essential for resourceful problem solving and strategic thinking.
I encourage students to take accountability for their learning but its my responsibility to provide the tools for their education.
With your assistance, I am confident we will encourage essential skills in mathematics.
