My students need class sets of Rules, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, El Ratoncito de la Moto, and The Whipping Boy so we can read and explore novels as a class.

Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Many of my students come from poor conditions and do not have the resources at home to read the types of books they want, or sometimes even know what books are available for them to explore.
My 25 fourth graders attend an intermediate school which holds grades 4-6.
Our school has seen a sharp increase in the number of families needing free and reduced lunch assistance, so many of my students come from poor conditions. They are great bunch of kids who are ready to absorb as much knowledge as possible. I can't ever seem to get them to stop reading!
My Project
With class sets of Rules, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, El Ratoncito de la Moto, and The Whipping Boy, I will be able to have whole class discussions about the same book. Students will be able to debate, read, and discuss various topics together. I would love to see my students engaged and talking to each other-sharing connections and experiences based on the books I requested. The great thing about the novels I have asked is that they are at my students' reading level, so each student will be able to read the novel easily and take part in various activities.
I currently don't have enough of any novel to provide my students with the types of learning experiences these novels will provide.
I would love nothing more than to see my lowest students connecting and sharing with my highest students in ways they can not do now. I believe my fourth graders will become better thinkers, readers, writers and students with these novels.
