This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our classroom needs help! I teach science to approximately 80 fifth graders each year. Since funding is so tight right now, there is not any money available to buy things like aquariums.
My fifth grade students come from diverse backgrounds.
They are also very eager to learn. This past year's students begged all year for a class pet such as a fish, but there were no funds available. My students would really benefit from being able to make daily observations of different living organisms.
My Project
This aquarium kit includes everything that we need to start an exciting learning adventure. It includes all the necessary parts for the aquarium as well as live aquatic plants and marine life. Since our fifth grade standards include life science strands such as classification and reproduction, the aquarium would be a great way for students to observe the processes of life first hand.
The aquarium would be an important step in increasing students' understanding of living things.
Not only will this project impact over 100 fifth grade students this year, but it will become a learning tool that I can use year after year, possibly impacting hundreds of students. Thank you for supporting the science education of my students!
