A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Creativity knows no bounds despite a bear market or bull market! However, the supplies needed are certainly impacted when economical situations are as dire as we are seeing now. My state and school district have been hit especially hard by our economical situation. I am the sole art teacher at a high school in a high-needs district in Arizona. We have practically no wiggle room or funds for supplies. There are so many students that have the creativity and drive and I owe it to them to provide them with the avenue and resources to bring out their best!
For example, I have students that have asked me about certain projects and mediums. I have had to tell them that it most likely will not be possible due to no money for supplies, despite the course description that has specifically named these certain projects. If that isn't difficult enough, I've had to encourage students to get a lot of their own supplies for projects. This method is not very effective. I have even spent a lot of my own funds on some supplies for the room, for the very reason that I feel my students deserve the opportunity to bring out their best.
My students need various art supplies, specifically acrylic paint, colored/magic markers, fine tip black pens for finalizing drawing, watercolor paper and paper for tracing and other projects. Not only will having more supplies in the room enable students to add more diverse projects to their portfolios with scholarship endeavors, but having more supplies in the room will drastically change the "mood" of the room. These students are so used to attending a school with such limited resources in all academic disciplines. If more supplies are in the art room, students will have added motivation to do their best and work harder! I am certain of it.
Your help will ensure that more students will push themselves and their creative potential even harder. Your help will ensure that their gratitude will be expressed using many of those creative avenues that I am determined to have free-flowing in the art room indefinitely!
