I teach third grade in a rougher than normal school. It is a low income high mobility school. I wouldn't have it any other way though. They need me to be their security, parent, and problem solver for 8 hours a day. I love how they know I will be the consistent one!
Due to the low income status of our student body and the state of the economy, funds are at an all time low. The students are suffering because we have no funds to buy supplies or the necessary resource materials to promote success.
Third grade is a high stakes testing year and a huge transition year. I am in desperate need of resource books (i.e. class set of dictionaries, thesaurus, atlas) not only to meet requirements for the high stakes test but also to help build and improve vocabulary development.
