This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach second grade in the inner city of Indianapolis. There are approximately 700 students enrolled in my school.
Outdoor recess is held in back of our school. It is surrounded by chain link fence. Half of the playground is asphalt, the other half of the playground is mulched and interspersed with playground equipment. Due to the large number of students on the playground at a time, we rotate, by grade, the areas for the students to play. Usually, the kindergartners and first graders are together and second and third grades are together. It is a good thing for those grades who have to stay on the mulched area for recess. Unfortunately, the grades left to play on the black top don't have many things to do. We do have basket ball hoops but most are broken. Many of the balls we have are missing or are in poor shape.
I am requesting new and exciting playground equipment for our students. I would like to replenish our balls and add new and exciting games that would promote good sportsmanship and team work. I am requesting items such as: soccer balls, a soccer goal, football, basketballs, hula hoops, and team building games. I know the kids from my school would really appreciate receiving new playground equipment.
Thank you very much for reading and possibly supporting my proposal. Your consideration would be greatly appreciated.
