This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach in a high school special education classroom for the Occupational Course of Study program that helps prepare students with mild to moderate disabilities for the world of work. I teach three levels of math (which focuses on fiances, time, problem solving, measurement) and two levels of life skills science (which included everything from basic biology, physics, and geology to health topics like nutrition and safety).
I found a SmartBoard interactive white board gathering dust in a closet on my hallway that no one had touched in a long time. The carpentry teacher helped me hang it up, and now I want to use it! My kids have very little access to technology in our classroom and I want to be able to use this SmartBoard for interactive notes, especially in my science lessons.
Having an LCD projector will allow me to actually use the SmartBoard. We could have power-point style notes that engage with pictures, video, and audio; we could play review games, use the internet as a class, create lots of other technology-driven lessons.
This LCD projector will let be used on a daily basis in my classroom and help integrate more technology into the lessons. Your help will enable my kids to have a more technology-integrated lesson and will make their lessons more engaging and meaningful.
