ESOL Family Literacy Project

My students (and their parents) need bilingual books to practice their reading skills in English as well as improve literacy in their own language.

Hispanic students need help learning how to read! I teach 6-8th grade ESL students in a high poverty Middle school in Tennessee. Our school has no money for books, technology or class materials.

Our library is full of books from the 1970s, none of which are on a reading level that my English Language Learners can understand. We have not one book in Spanish and half of my students don't even know how to read in their language.

I need help building a classroom library with bilingual books to promote literacy not only in English, but also in their native language. I want it to be open for their families as well that don't have access to books on their language level and desperately need to learn English in order to survive in the States.

Your help will make sure that Hispanic students learn how to read in English and Spanish, become literate and be able to contribute to our American society!
